Located south of Bay City, which is between Houston and Corpus Christi. Sounds bad.

Don’t know if it’s all drama or not but lets hope the nuke plant emergency diesel generators are adequately elevated and not on the ground like Fukashima’s were.

Not loading now, but it did the first time I tried it and it was click bait. Trying to get me to accept a Google add on to be able to watch the video. I left.

I call BS on this. “Running out of food”? Already? I’m so hungry after 2 days that I’m going to have to let the nuclear reactor melt down. PULEEZE

I suspect that they can drop the rods and at least prevent a meltdown. Obviously that would also shut down power production for a while. Nothing like being hit by a tidal wave out of the blue.

Seriously - never heard of this site - but a 3-5 cat hurricane and flooding is not in the disaster recovery plans for a nuke facility???
not buying it.

A little perspective. The “Nuclear Worker” quoted in the article is not a plant worker but is bringing in supplies for the plant crews. The potential catastrophic events refer to the effects on the surrounding area from the storm NOT from a potential nuclear accident. I am not on the ground at the South Texas Project (STP) but typical protocol for this type of event is to shutdown the the plant prior to winds exceeding a certain level or when a given time prior to landfall is reached. Therefore, the plant was shutdown at least a couple of days ago. Decay heat will have dropped. As long as the diesels remain operating no problems are anticipated. Not familiar with STP but typically coastal plants are designed for direct hit from the maximum credible hurricane and attendant flooding.
Nothing like misleading headlines to stir up unnecessary fear.
