Amendment would block Secret Service from paying Trump businesses ([D] Rep. Adam Schiff)
USA Today (via MSNBC) ^ | 8/31/2017 | Kevin Johnson

If Rep. Adam Schiff has his way, the Secret Service wouldn't be able to pay any businesses owned or operated by President Trump.

The California Democrat announced Wednesday his plans to introduce an amendment to an appropriations bill meant to fund the government for fiscal 2018.

The amendment reads: "None of the funds made available by this Act to the United States Secret Service may be used to purchase, rent, or otherwise acquire goods or services, including hotel rooms, office space, or golf carts, from entities that are owned or operated by the President or the immediate family of the President."

The creation of the amendment, which would apply specifically to the next fiscal year, comes after USA TODAY reported that Trump's frequent travels — usually to his own properties — and his large family have put a financial strain on the Secret Service. More than 1,000 of its agents have already hit their salary and overtime caps for the year.

How about a bill that doesn’t pay Adam Schiff congressional wages?

Since few if any democrat politicians actually seem to own anything, it’ll be easy to continue this policy if another dem ever gets to be President.

I’d add another amendment that outside of the salary paid by the taxpayers, Members of Congress are expressly prohibited from any and all forms of income while they are in office.

Any businesses must be liquidated and all investments owned previous to their time in office must be removed from any investment vehicles and placed in their local bank at an interest rate of .034%

Wait a minute...didn’t we taxpayers pay for something to be built on Clinton’s property and then rented from the Clintons so the SS would have a place to hang out?

I am wondering why current Presidents aren’t supposed to be reimbursed, and not former Presidents. It’s good that former President Obama is paid a reasonable rent for the Secret Service guard shack on his property, but bad for current President Trump?

Do I smell racism?

Actually, I don’t care about what the SSS spends. By law they are to protect the potus in the most effective way possible, financing not a consideration.

We just happen to have elected a rich president with many properties. That’s just the way it is.

Amazing...Adam Shitz, er, Schiff, wants the President to go “unprotected” because of his name.

How is that different from the State senator who wanted him killed?

Didn’t Reagan go to his property (ranch) with the SS on his visits to home.

How about the Clintons gouging the SS out of massive “rent” for the “special” SS housing on their property in NY?

Bush visiting his ranch in Texas.

Daddy Bush at his resort in Maine?

And, don’t forget the obamas...traipsing around the globe with attendants, and SS in tow whilst playing golf with Tiger Woods, holidays in Europe, and the lavish villas and properties in Hawaii. Was it months at a time? SS had to stay somewhere, and pay for room and board (per diem).

Schiff’s plan is to deny Trump leaving the White House, or, a Trojan Horse method to call for the demise of Trump.

I believe the President had divested in all businesses and refuses to accept a salary. The various businesses merely carry his name.

Joe Biden charged the SS for a garage rental at one of his places while he was VP.

Must be OK for commiecrats to charge the SS for the honor of protecting them but it's way overboard for a Republican to do the same.
