Although they look similar and have related backgrounds, the DC Police report says the guy found dead was 45 years old. Meanwhile, according to Wikipedia, Kurt M. Campbell was born in 1957, which would make him 60.

The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 45-year-old Kurt Smolek, who was last seen in the 600 block Water Street, Southwest, on Monday, August 28, 2017. The incident was reported on August 29, 2017.

600 Water Street S.W. — the SW waterfront is currently DC’s biggest reconstruction zone. For the last couple of years, it’s been a mess with demolitions and new buildings going up. The earlybirds have already scored the bargains, and a formerly rather rundown area along the Washington Channel is emerging as a very hot mixed-use area. 600 Water Street is in the marina area and close to one of the dinner cruise boat locations. If Smolek was a kayaker or boater, there would be a natural reason he’d be in the water. The story gives the 600 Water Street block as the place he was last seen. It doesn’t say how far downstream the body was found.
