Meet the Swamp: Donald Trump Punts September Agenda to December After Meeting with Congress

President Donald Trump met with Congressional leaders at the White House on Wednesday to discuss the many pressing issues facing Washington, D.C., in September.

But instead of planning to pass any long-term funding, the president appeared willing to punt his big agenda items to December and focus on passing Hurricane relief funding.

Trump met with House Speaker Paul Ryan, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

In a joint statement after the meeting, Pelosi and Schumer signaled that Trump had made a deal.

Trump needs to tell PRyno and Ditch that they have 535 "workers" with staff.

They need to learn to divide that labor and get at least 4 things accomplished simultaneously or take a Yuge budget hit.

I hope DJT is putting pressure on Speaker Ryan but hard to know for certain what he’s up to. I’m sure he frustrated that the GOP sits on their hands and does nothing constructive.

Looks to me like he has no choice but to try and work with dems, because the Republican party is a complete fraud, and we continue to elect it.

Who wrote this? You mean GOPe punted the Debt ceiling to or after November 2018 without passing a budget or tax cuts?

GOPe wants off the hook.

I think the swamp is winning big time.

Shut the f’er down. Trump could get Feds in positive cash operating territory within a week of shutdown.

Trump could pick and choose what Feds to lay off. He would control the entire story, while Congress bickered.

After a few months, Regular Americans would realize a balanced budget is easy.

And Trump is the man to do it.

Thank you for referencing that article HokieMom. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Noting that I gladly voted for Pres. Trump and do not regret doing so, please consider the following.

Since POTUS is constitutionally “married” to Congress, constitutionally low-information Trump got everybody’s hopes too high during the campaign with what he would be able to get done in his first two years in office since he has to work with a corrupt, RINO-controlled Congress left over from the lawless Obama Administration.

Although Trump is accomplishing a LOT as president, it remains that since the uniparty Congress wants to get rid of him that his first two years in office are arguably for practice. That being said ...

Drain the swamp sewer! Drain the sewer!

Remember in November 2018 !

Since corrupt Congress is the biggest part of the sewer (imo) that Trump wants to drain, it is actually up to patriots to drain the sewer in the 2018 elections, patriots supporting Trump by electing as many new members of Congress as they can who will support Trump.

In the meanwhile, patriots need to make sure that there are plenty of Trump-supporting candidates on the primary ballots.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to make sure that candidates are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed here.

Also, unlike incumbent members of Congress who wrongly remained silent while misguided state officials abridged the constitutionally enumerated rights of citizens during the lawless Obama Administration, patriots need to make sure that candidates on the 2018 primary ballots commit to the following.

Candidates need to commit to making and enforcing 14th Amendment-related laws to prosecute misguided state officials who use state powers to abridge constitutionally enumerated protections, 1st Amendment-protected religious expression and free speech for example, such actions prohibited by Section 1 of the 14th Amendment.

”14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

Again, drain the sewer! Drain the sewer!

If results on the presidents agenda is the yardstick then there isn’t a lot of difference between congressional democrats and republicans most of the time.

I think this is a warning shot over the bows of the do-nothing republicans who claim the President has ‘excessive expectations’.

He gave republicans plenty of time to make a move on Obamacare and Tax reform and all he got was one bag full of bovine excrement after another.

If passing legislation is too big a chore for McConnell and Ryan then President Trump has just let them know he will make deals with the devils.

Thank you for your reasoned response. I love this man and what he stands for. I have so much respect for him. I know he’s way smarter than I can even fathom so I know he’s up to something that will bring #WINNING in the end. I don’t trust Pelosi, Schumer, Ryan, and McConnell and I guess I feel protective of the President in some way and don’t want him exploited any further. Plus, I know he’s not a Constitutional conservative and he surprises me all the time when he aligns with conservative principles yet I know he’s capable of falling for big government liberalism.
