Steve Bannon: ‘The Swamp’ Will Take Decades to Drain
Breitbart ^ | 10 Sep 2017 | Charlie Spiering

Former White House strategist Stephen K. Bannon revealed in a Sunday interview that he believes it will take decades to drain the swamp of Washington, D.C.

“The permanent political class, as represented by both parties … you’re not going to drain that in eight months,” Bannon said during an interview with CBS News anchor Charlie Rose for 60 Minutes. “You’re not going to drain it in two terms. This is going to take ten, 15, 20 years of relentlessly going after it.”

Will it take decades to end the corruption in politics and government?

In ancient Rome the Emperor Hadrian tried draining the swamp starting in 117 AD. When Flavius Orestes whacked Julius Nepos in 480 AD, the Western Roman Empire fell. The swap is still there. Students of later Italian history might suggest that the Roman swamp is still going strong over 1500 years later.

Draining wetlands can be quite challenging.

Bull$hit.

Start throwing people in jail for committed crimes and it will evaporate very quickly.

Start with The Cankle and The Bent One.

The swamp will never be drained. The biggest problem isn’t corruption, it’s tradition. Things in DC work the way they do because that’s how they’ve always worked and anybody that has a better idea gets it beaten out of them. It’s the banana on the top of the cage, none of the gorillas know why you’re not allowed to go for that banana, but they reinforce the rule on every new gorilla.

Couldn’t agree more with Bannon.

Fifty years and more of insidious Leftist advances and they own every institution, academia, churches, corporations, money supply, military and globalist goals.

The little people are left with our little paper ballots, our first conservative president, for eight months in and counting, and we have yahoos expecting fast food service on a national turn around.

Pathetic short sightedness. It’s overwrought jock speak, with no jocks in the driver’s seat and quite over stepping reality on the ground.

Yes, Bannon is right.

We need to start in 2018 with the Amnesty Senators

Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake.

There will always be corruption in politics as long as there’s power, advantage & money to hand out.

It will never be zero just prosecute it when you find it.

First step is actually the easiest & one of the most important. Trump could do it now with an executive order.

1. Rescind the JFK executive order allowing federal government employee unions.

2. Next step is much harder but needed. Pass a federal law banning federal government employee unions. That don’t get rid of them permanently but makes them difficult to return.

Unionized federal employees are roughly 40% (Note too lazy to look up exact number!) of the work force. The Treasury Employee Union (TEU) & “I-can’t-remember-the-name-of-the-other-Fed-Union” are very radical. TEU infests the IRS! That should never be allowed. Doing this might embolden states, & local government to shed that prasite.

The swamp remains the swamp because everyone allows it to go on. I haven’t even seen Trumps appointees attacking it. Same old people in State. Same old people in Ag’s office.
To drain the swamp you have to actually attack it. I haven’t seen Trump or his people doing that so yeah, it’ll go on.

Eliminate:

Government unions
Lobbyists
Revolving doors between government agencies and companies
Automatic budget increases
Agency-created laws and rules
Budgets for race-based “caucuses”
Unlimited campaign funds
Mega PACS without disclosure of every donor’s name

You’d be well on your way.

I doubt it will ever, ever happen.

You have to drastically cut back Fedzilla.

Give the work to the States.
That way, it takes a lot more lobbyist money to buy all the reps in the 52 States

It will never be drained as long as it is being fed through the education and media, I’m sad to say. Clean water has to be flushed through them.

Wrong.

Machievelli said discard the swamp immediately and quickly. Then the people are forgiving.

Drag the chopping out for years, and the people will hate you.

But likely Trump agent is saying the opposite to let the opponent’s guard down so the swamp fights less.

It only takes a week to drain. Month max.

Yep.

I kept trying to tell people impatient with Trump: A president appoints about 2,000 people initially (judges continue to be appointed). The DOJ ALONE is 50,000 employees.

So the appointments you’re going to have in DOJ are going to magically transform the other 49,950? I don’t care what position of power they are in, it’s a very long term process and involves changing a mind set.

On top of that conservatives have been hostile to gubment for decades, choosing not to work there. Well . . . .

It all comes around. Now, of all those Trump DOES appoint, how many are die-hard Trumpers? Percentage wise it cannot be many. There just aren’t that many who have been involved in politics enough to know the system, how to get ANYTHING done (let alone what Trump wants done). So you inevitably end up with a lot of swamp creatures.

Think of Patton in Germany after the surrender. Who did he hire to run the power plants, the water plants? The Nazis. Why? They were the only ones who actually knew how to run anything cuz they had run it for the last 15 years.

It can be done with a dedicated, relentless approach. I think one thing Trump is doing that is key is he is just not replacing many of these positions at all. He is draining by omission. Slowly, he’ll get his own people in, but say he’s re-elected, it’s still going to be a long term process, made worse by the fact that non-swamp people HATE Washington and don’t want to/can’t stay there very long.

The unspoken truth is that Bannon himself was not cut out for gubment work and wasn’t a good fit. He knew he was never going to be there very long.

Look at Reagan’s first chief of staff-—his best, Judge William Clark. He left after a year.

But just because something is hard doesn’t mean you don’t do it. This war can be won, but not in one little battle.

It will never be truly cleaned up - been so tainted over the last 40 or more years that it would take several decades and we're not likely to have folks like Trump there for the necessary stamina and will to do it.

Washington is loaded with self serving apparatchiks. Their only interest is making money, and digging in to the body politic. They are human ticks.
