Back in 1987, a much younger Bernie Sanders ... warned that expanding Medicaid, the jointly run federal-state health care program for the poor and disabled, to everyone in the country would "bankrupt the nation."
"If we expanded Medicaid [to] everybody. Give everybody a Medicaid cardwe would be spending such an astronomical sum of money that, you know, we would bankrupt the nation."
Medicaid, notably, is far less generous than Medicare, the health program for seniors that Sanders wants to expand.
Medicaid's provider networks are narrower, and its benefits are generally more limited. It pays doctors quite a bit less than Medicare, on average, and it costs substantially less per capita. Relative to Medicare, it's the bargain option.

I wonder if these useful idiots think that China will take over as their new masters once they’ve collapsed the country (rather than the old Soviet Union as they always hoped)?
Once they’ve collapsed the country the Chinese will show up like locusts to loot our food, timber, oil and other natural resources. They aren’t going to give out any freebies, either.
Oh my, reminds me of a 1976 Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police position paper on gun control that described universal firearms registration as “administratively unrealistic and unworkable” and went on to say that “licencing and registration would not act as a deterrent to violence and would not necessarily identify the person perpetrating the crime” and also said “cessation of firearms sales will not remove them from those who can do violence”.
He’ll die before the bill is paid, what the hell does he care?
Sanders is a f’n commie traitor to the Republic.
Bernie conveniently forgets. Good thing it was on VHS!
Sanders in 1987: 'Astronomical' Cost of Single-Payer 'Would Bankrupt the Nation'
“Medicaid for All Would ‘Bankrupt the Nation’”
I he meant it as a good thing. He hasn’t changed his position.
Bernie’s own state Vermont actually tried Medicare for all a few years back - the experiment was abandoned after a few months as being too expensive for the budget to afford - Bernie should get home more......
Wow, I agree with Bernie Sanders!!!!!!!!!
