New Zealand’s ruling National Party regained a wide lead over the opposition Labour Party ahead of Saturday’s election, an opinion poll showed on Wednesday, sending the New Zealand dollar higher in the face of what is still expected to be a tight race.

Still many possibilities, including that this poll is wrong. But, there's cause for optimism. At least the currency markets think so.

Back in 2001, I talked with some Kiwi’s about NZ politics.
They indicated that the average voter was so tired of the lack of action, they have opted out of involvement.
Perhaps this has changed.

New Zealand was once admired for their conservative policies, then it seems to have gone downhill over the years.
