This is a real problem in San Diego. Liberal “do good” mayor and city council told the cops to stop enforcing the law. Downtown streets crowded with hobos sleeping in tents and crapping in the street. In the past, homeless people would crap into plastic shopping bags, and then throw the shopping bag into a dumpster. Liberal “do good “ politicians make plastic shopping bags illegal, and voila, homeless people crap directly onto the pavement.

Hepatitis A is spread mainly through contact with fecal matter through food and water contamination. Poor standards of personal hygiene, food sanitation, etc. are the main means of it spreading in the general population, not having sex or using drugs. While these latter means can also transmit the virus, conflating these risks is irresponsible on the part of a public health authority.

An effective vaccine against Hepatitis A is available, and is recommended for those traveling to countries where the virus is prevalent. Lax immigration standards are a contributing factor to it becoming more prevalent in this country.

Hep A and B are risks for medical researchers who handle human tissues or cells. For this reason, I have been vaccinated against both. There is no Hep C vaccine, so researchers still have to take chances when handling human products.

My point is that not everyone is exposed due to bad habits or poor hygiene.
