Yes because going to war with your customers is going to end well. I have seen business people do that over the years, always bankrupt and always faster than anyone expected.

To paraphrase Dave Chapell, “I just started making real money for the fisrt time and Obama came along and raised my taxes. That was supposed to be rich old born-with-it white guy money, not my just made it money!”

Kaepernick’s salary at the moment is zilch. He quit the 49ers and no other team wanted him.

Your point is excellent, though. They think of it as a mostly black league, but it’s mostly whites footing the bill.

All it takes is one guy with a lousy attitude to drive customers away.

I agree with you.

What if the big advertisers drop them instead of wanting to pay less? Budweiser and Pepsi have already felt the need to make statements...

I know very little about how the NFL works, but I think it survives on corporate advertising, TV, and fan money. If that is true, then I don’t see how they can keep going the way they are going.

All the contracts you mentioned, there are tons of lawyers that will be happy to help renegotiate or get out of the contracts on the part of those that advertise. Even if the lawsuits are not won the cost would be hard for the NFL to eat. I know if I was a big time advertiser that does not agree with what they are doing, I am talking to my lawyer about getting out of contracts. Those companies didn’t sign on for this.

The TV contracts...if advertisers are not interested and enough people drop their NFL packages and stop watching they will want out as well. Long term contracts are great, but many people have legally broken contracts.

We will see, I am amazed the NFL allowed it to come to this, many people will never see football the same.

Oh I know he is out, but pretty sure he is not the only player who thinks that way. That thought process goes a long way to explain why they are doing what they are doing. They think they don’t need white people, at all.

I venture to say they think white people owe them. Their mistake is in imagining that white people feel the same way.

“But I don’t understand why ratings would go down, fighting for justice for people, to try to stop oppression, especially in a league that is predominantly black.”

It’s time to encourage law suits under affirmative action, that charge that all NFL and NBA teams must have a playing roster that reflects the racial makeup of the country as a whole. Once accomplished then file to including gender.

They can even sue the NBA to take into consideration those who are at a height disadvantage, and hence rosters must be made up of individuals that don’t exceed the average height in the US. Basket heights must be adjusted for each game dependent upon the average height of participants, so as to not discriminate by allowing taller players easier access to the basket. No more dunking.

After all doesn’t the armed forces of the US by law (or edict), now have to incorporate individuals who by nature may not be as battle ready into combat roles.

Such suits are the logical culmination to all the political insanity and chaos created by the Socialist Left. It is political theater to create groups who feel deprived and angry.

All in a effort to destroy our republic.

One of the Tennessee Titans bought my aunt & uncles home in Rancho Palos Verdes overlooking Los Angeles about 1.5 years ago for $1.55 million. They never moved in and sold it a year later for $1.8 million. I cannot remember the name other then he was a tight end and it was not this guy.

Large (National) Ad buys are usually made month by month or perhaps season by season, but there is usually something like an escape clause or provision for termination. The advertisers make those contracts with the TV Networks, not the NFL directly. A lot of advertisers will have a flexible payment schedule with floors and ceilings based
upon the ratings for the games their ads appear during. If ratings fall, this will affect the TV network revenues. The Networks are locked into their contracts, but if there is a significant drop in ratings, they will start screaming at the NFL to do something...

Teams will have their own local deals with local companies for stadium signage, sponsorships, or endorsements that amount to several millions of dollars (in some cases, [Dallas Cowboys] 10’s of millions) every season. Those deals would have their own escape clauses.

This could get quite noticeable for the team owners very quickly...

It’ll improve the college game by eliminating those who aren’t there for college and only there for the NFL payday. The game will get smarter.

The first pains will be merchandise and ticket sales. Then the networks get hit by falling ad revenue. Expect bankruptcies to get out of contract liabilities. Would be awesome to see ESPN declare bankruptcy. And I bet a lot of those contracts with advertisers have clauses in them that protect the advertisers from just these exact circumstances.

“These low-IQ thugs...”

I was trying to think of a nice way to say what I was thinking...

I’ve never liked big sports. I went to a Big 10 school and know how those guys were coddled, even after criminal activity. I’m sure nothing changes for them once they go pro. So, if the NFL loses some money, I’m not going to weep. Maybe some of the thugs will learn something about biting hands...
