Oddly enough, the only black athlete who came close to doing the right thing was former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis. I saw one on-the-air discussion he had with Shannon Sharpe back in the summer when the Ravens were looking to sign Colin Kaepernick. Sharpe took the tiresome "the flag is a symbol of oppression" tack, and suggested that white NFL owners simply didn't give a damn about the way blacks are treated in this country.

Lewis said something to this effect:

"Why is this THIER problem? I don't hear about any NFL team owners shooting black kids on the street in this country's inner cities."
