“The teacher even told students that she would never stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and that if she did stand she would not really mean it.”

That’s exactly the same attitude most of the NFL players have. So when they do stand it will be insincere and meaningless.

In a letter sent home to parents Wednesday, they teacher wrote the following:

I recognize that while this was not a one-sided lesson, the topic itself and the expression of my views were not appropriate, my intentions were well-meaning

This entire thing looks like it was written by a 3rd grader with a C- average.

There was no well meaning intention. That's a straight up lie. That in itself presupposes the lesson she was trying to teach with her bias was correct; it wasn't.

Not only do we do the US Pledge, but here in Texas we also do the Texas Pledge as well.

I apologize for expressing my views to my students. I recognize that while this was not a one-sided lesson, the topic itself and the expression of my views were not appropriate, my intentions were well-meaning.

The WWII Japanese Kamikaze had well-meaning intentions, but at least their intentions were in support of the people and leader of their nation.

Her apology is really a one-paragraph smirk with a middle-finger raised on the keyboard of a computer.

Maybe the Italian partisans--paisani partisans?--who hung Benito and Clara by their heels, had the right idea about disposing of their disgusting, arrogant enemies. Well, it is a useless and fleeting wonder, but sometimes . . .

They don’t have to like it. Americans won’t watch pro football if they keep up this ****.
Kids look up to sports figures. If players won’t show respect to the country that gave them so much, whether it’s a Kathy Griffin apology or not, they will be looking for new jobs. And they know it now.
Of course by this time, IMHO it has become clear this is just more “resistance” to President True.
Either the coach runs a team on the sidelines, or the players do. If they won’t run their teams, the coaches can prolly get jobs selling insurance or something similar.
In any event if their attitude is “Our way, or we take our ball and go home,” my response is “Fine. I can learn to like NASCAR.”

I agree.

It no longer matters what they do. Huge numbers of former fans are abandoning them for good. The NFL is imploding but they don’t realize it yet.

pro football will never recover.

"I think parents have to start demanding that there kids get removed from classes where the teachers is politicizing there education... have enough parents demand this and it is easier for the school district to just remove the teachers. Most of the teachers doing this behavior have graduated with in the last eight years and don’t have tenure. also when a parent does demand there kids be removed they have to let other parents know why so others might join them"

"Their"

FWIW, it was a bit too painful to take a pass. No offense intended.

A good way to interview a person: Ask them to recite the pledge of allegiance facing a flag.

For the 8 years Obama was in office, my son would not pledge to the American flag. I explained that the flag, which my father fought under in Korea, represented all Americans, even those who died gmfor our freedoms. While he was always respectful to vets, and never failed to thank them for their service or shake their hands if he could, he would pledge to a country stupid enough to elect a man so hostile to our conservative values.

He always said the pledge to the Texas flag.

Now that Trump is in the White House, he says the pledge daily, loudly, and proudly. Trumps election gave him hope that America was not completely lost.

Suppose she was coming down on the side of those defending the anthem and the flag. Would that be acceptable?

??? Of course it would be acceptable, indeed expected of her especially since it is a significant element of her job description (maintaining classroom control and conforming with the administration's program).

In fact, her superiors should quickly realize her intentional actions were clearly contrary to management's published intentions - normally grounds for termination, depending on who is in control.

(It is entirely possible that I misunderstand your statement or the context in which its made.)

To rephrase, should the teacher teach the controversy at all to grade school children? And if she should, is it acceptable to present only one side?

So what have they got to lose by posturing like this? Pull some outrageous stunt like this and not get fired? A lame-azz apology is a Get Out of jail card for these people and they are free to try again when perhaps no one is watching.

The teacher should be disciplined, and if the school district doesn't do it, an angry mob with torches and pitchforks should do it, widening the net to include the worthless school administrators. Thanks Enlightened1.
