I’ve worked with quite a few black people in IT. With one exception, every single one who was a typical and smart hard working IT professional was not a US citizen and spent at least their childhood outside the US.
These “african americans” are afraid of “black africans” and for good reason.
It’s not just “afraid,” it’s mockery more nasty than any racist combined with abject disdain. And, the Africans return the disdain. Race only goes so far as a unifying trait.
I'm very familiar with a couple from Nigeria that own a business and they mostly refuse to hire "African Americans," claiming they are lazy, dependent, lack critical thinking to tackle difficult jobs and "too demanding and spoiled to depend on!"
They told me that most American blacks they tried working with, didn't show up on time, had very poor communication skills and demanded too much money for the level of eexperience they possessed.
I have quite a few friends from Jamaica and they are always complaining about how black Americans give them a bad name. I find it rather amusing.
My experience as well.
African Americans are very snooty to Africans. Hypocritical and dare I say, racist?
I’ve noticed the same when I was in college in Newark, NJ during the 1970’s. This was New Jersey Institute of Technology, yes, an engineering school. There were a number of black students from Africa and the Caribbean. They did not think highly of the “inner city urban culture”.
