The Department of Justice is demanding the U.S. Attorneys Office for Washington, D.C., release records relating to the murder of Democratic National Committee employee Seth Rich.
On Sept. 1, Texas attorney Ty Clevenger submitted a Freedom of Information Act Request with the DOJ and FBI requesting all records and correspondence pertaining to Rich.
This request includes, but is not limited to, any records or correspondence resulting from any investigation of his murder, Clevenger wrote in his letter to the government agencies.
The U.S. Attorneys Office rejected Clevengers FOIA request, demanding he submit a death certificate with his request to prove that Rich was dead.
Since you have not furnished a release, death certificate, or public justification for release, the release of records concerning a third party would result in an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy and would be in violation of the Privacy Act, 5 U.S.C.§ 552a, the office said.
But Clevenger appealed. And on Tuesday, Sean R. ONeil, the chief of administrative appeals at DOJs Office of Information Policy, directed the executive office for U.S. attorneys to search for and produce any records covered in Clevengers FOIA request.
You appealed from the action of the Executive Officer for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) on your Freedom of Information Act request for access to records located in the United States Attorneys Office for the District of Columbia concerning Seth Conrad Rich, ONeil wrote in a letter to Clevenger.
After carefully considering your appeal, and as a result of discussions between EOUSA personnel and this office, I am remanding your request to EOUSA for a search for responsive records. If EOUSA locates releasable records, it will send them to you directly, subject to applicable fees, the letter continues.

If so, then DOJ should go seize it. Anyone not cooperating will not only be fired and lose their pension, but charged with obstruction in felony case and as co-conspirator.
DC: The “Swamp” personified...
Violation of privacy? Did not know Seth was a minor... it is the usual MO for judges who screw up on pedophile cases to not release info
Just giving them the noose to hang themselves.
Is there any indication at all that the DC US Attorney took any part in the Rich investigation, which was handled by the DC Metro police?

This confirms what some detractors have labeled a conspiracy theory, namely that basic records such as an autopsy, a death certificate, are not readily available as they usually are. If Seth Rich were dead, there would be no delay in obtaining proof of death unless it was ‘state secrets’ and if it were state secrets. then it would be that he is not dead, but hidden. A failure to furnish death records will never be described as state secrets but the failure in itself points to state secrets.
The ‘conspiracy theory’ is that Seth Rich is not dead, that he was whisked away into some of witness-protection program where he now exists under a pseudo name.
Hw was witnessed alive and talking on the phone in the operating room where he was taken. Hospital staff say a person brought into the operating ward in his condition almost never die.
This in no way confirms he is alive, it just points out that the normal documents of proof of death are mysteriously missing and the testimony of persons close tot he scene do not add up.
There's a stupid-lawyer trick for you, right there!
Showboating I suspect nothing as usual will come of this . Sessions was a mistake Mr. President >
The open question is, why is this US Attorney still in his job? Trump should just dismiss him immediately. He has the authority to do so.
That affable but cowardly old fool Sessions will do absolutely nothing.
this sounds like more window dressing designed to deceive people still holding out hope that he isn’t completely taken with Potomac fever.
to the poltroons this sounds good but I don’t know, I have my doubts.
Misleading byline. DOJ does not wants these records released. If they did the records would have already been compiled and given to whomever requested same. DOJ is BLOCKING the release. They are in charge. I wonder who the blithering idiot is that runs the DOJ?
Don’t you know who runs the DC US Attorney office?
