SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) — California Gov. Jerry Brown warns that catastrophic wildfires will keep ripping through the state as the climate warms.

**SNIP**

He said a warming climate has contributed to catastrophic wildfires. “That’s the way it is with a warming climate, dry weather and reducing moisture.” said Brown. “These kind of catastrophes have happened and they’ll continue to happen, and we have to be prepared to do everything we can to mitigate.”

The governor has positioned himself as a leader in the fight against climate change.

I'm a bit confused. Do wildfires cause global warming or is it the other way around?

Poor forestry management is what most contributes to wildfires. If you put out every little fire so the fuel can build up then you get an explosive and uncontrolled wildfire just like what happened all over California.

Controlled burns every year are the way to go. The native Americans used to do this and it worked great for them.

California has ALWAYS had fires in the late summer and early fall. I grew up in Southern California, and you could almost set your watch by the regularity of the fires.

California is and always has been a pretty dry state (hell, about half of it is desert). Dry conditions plus winds make it easy for a spark from any source to become a conflagration.

He has destroyed the State two times as Governor. The next Governor will be worse than this one. California will be the next Illinois when the stock market and real estate markets go down. Out of control Democratic spending with huge illegal alien problem.

Everyone should question the wisdom of having such a high density of population living in, essentially, a giant tinderbox. People need to wake up and quit talking about stuff they can’t control like global warming.

How about the big rains Northern California got this past Winter and all the resulted growth of shrubbery and other plant life? Combine that with the dry Summers and you have a big brush fire waiting to happen. Nothing to do with climate change at all. What a dumb ass.

PG&E not trimming power line easements has resulted in previous findings of culpability for fires.

Jerry Brown needs to put down the pot, it's been affecting his behavior and judgement since the 70's.

Heard the same thing this time PG&E - there will be a lot of liability for property and death on this one if that is true - Norcals get to pay higher rates due to PG&E not trimming trees

I’m not quite sure. What day is it?

That’s the problem with lies. You gotta keep ‘em straight every time you open your mouth.

It’ll unravel. Give it time.

What a murderous villain Moonbeam is. Just like the communist dictators, he uses charred corpses to push a draconian agenda based on a lie.
