ALL of those have to be done by *Congress*. There is no EO he can order to change any of those.

My point is all private companies, the states, and the President should not enforce any part of the ACA. The President should tell all concerned private parties and the states that they are free to simply ignore the ACA as it is an invalid and illegal act, and he should order a stop to any federal actions that implement or support the ACA.

If there's more to be done to undo it, then those steps should be taken. Trump should nullify/reject ACA as unconstitutional but not try to change or make new laws as an alternative.

“As much as I agree with our President’s use of the Executive order in this instance are we being hypocritical?”

i don’t see why:

1. nothing unconstitutional about this.

2. merely orders staff to facilitate the utility of an existing provision in ERISA regarding interstate health insurance cooperatives.

AND private companies, the states and the President do NOT need court approval to nullify and reject any unconstitutional federal act including ACA - the Constitution, not SCOTUS, is the Supreme Law of the Land (art. VI, cl. 2).

“Plus, this EO can be immediately reversed in 8 years.”

except could be political suicide to reverse if it causes millions to lose health insurance obtained thereunder ...

“Props to Senator Paul for his contributions to getting this done!”

Indeed. i think it was Paul and or his staff who discovered how to broaden the interstate health insurance association rules under the old ERISA law and bring it to Trump’s attention.

I can’t say enough good things about Rand Paul, particularly when it comes to trying to dismantle obamacare and rein in the Federal Reserve.

....Major Medical policies that most of us remember from our younger days!

How right you are. Doctor bills were never more than a few hundred dollars, then Major Medical kicked in and paid everything else.

Doctors and hospitals were happy to accept insurance payments because they paid the actual bill, before Dr and hospital had to start padding bills to make up for shortfalls from Medicare and Medicaid.

I know this will hiss off a great number of FReepers, but mental health expenditures for the sickest of the mentally ill are a waste of limited medical monetary resources. Medical dollars are constantly being poured down a never-ending rat hole of failed treatment time and again. This costs everyone more in finite medical dollars. Employers should be allowed to limit or exclude this type of treatment. This would lower premium costs. Someone wants this type of care to be unlimited? Purchase a rider, like people used to do, and pay through the nose for it. I shouldn’t have to subsidize anyone else’s medical insurance with my premiums

Obama’s health insurance regulators used the ACA as the basis for setting tight restrictions on CO-OP funding and operations. A CO-OP, for example, could not be owned, or partly owned, by any existing health insurer, and its member owners could never sell the CO-OP. The sale restriction made using a CO-OP’s assets as loan collateral impossible.

From a news article discussing the failure of many of the CO-OP insurance groups, like the ones Trump is attempting to expand.

Obama and the Democrats WANTED these types of insurance providers to fail, so that their customers would be FORCED onto the Obamacare roles - that bumps the Obamacare role numbers, and removes competition for the Obamacare mandated, state-controlled insurance plans.

If Trump and his Administration loosens the DEATH-GRIP that was wrought by the Obama Admin, then I think these CO-OPs can work.

Trump clears way for ObamaCare 'alternatives' in new executive order, goes around stalled Congress

We at last have a president who sees Obamacare as an anchor on American business, American competiveness, and a $1 Trillion Dollar Huge Tax increase on the American worker and taxpayer.

My little brother who works in a Machine shop finally saw the writing on the wall when their boss told them that he has been mandated by Congress to take out money from their paychecks since they did not sign up for Obamacare.

My little brother immediately called me to ask me if his boss can really do what he said.

I immediately told him that the Imposter Obama along with an incompetent far left Rat party passed Obamacare and there was nothing you can do about it. My little brother and his fellow workers stayed P.O.ed for a long, long, time.

They all voted for President Trump since he said he was going to repeal and replace Obamacare. These guys had been voting for the Rat party for years.

Now of course, President Trump took out this onerous tax on folks who did not sign up for Obamacare.

I told him that Obamacare is a "$One Trillion Dollar Tax Hike on the American worker and taxpayer.

He is a purist, and this is a great purist move. it costs nothing, or virtually nothing, moves insurance closer to the free market, and keeps Congress from transmogrifying Obamacare into Trumpcare.
