AFSCME Pres. Lee Saunders on Trumpís Decision to End Vital ACA Subsidies
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO ^ | Friday, October 13, 2017 | Lee Saunders president of AFSCME

WASHINGTON —

AFSCME Pres. Lee Saunders issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s decision to end vital health care subsidies under the Affordable Care Act:

“With this decision, the president has ushered in the era of Trumpcare, under which Americans will have fewer coverage choices and face skyrocketing premium costs.

“By sabotaging the health care system just as open enrollment is set to begin, the president has all but guaranteed that insurers will abandon the market and working families will bear the brunt of the pain.

“Americans will go broke, get sicker or worse because of this decision. There is no reasonable justification for the president to have taken this action. Making the lives of Americans leverage for political purposes is unacceptable.

“Congress must move forward quickly with legislation that builds on the progress made through the Affordable Care Act instead of sabotaging it.”

What else can they say?

Obamacare was a disaster. Premiums were going to radically, and some states were already down to single-payer or close to it.

Something had to be done.

Trump is trying to open up the market to get more competition.

Those states with very few options, should now have more in years to come.

The Left is always panicked over things Republican do to get things back on track.

If this guy thinks there wouldn’t have been problems this year under Obamacare, he’s simply uninformed.

“fewer coverage choices and face skyrocketing premium costs.”

We have that now, Lee, with the Affordable Care act.

Thanks to the taxpayers, Generous Motors and others, AFSCME included, have gold-plated health care plans.
How many of you bums, foreign and domestic, do we have to carry on our backs while we suffer with unaffordable, bad insurance, or no insurance at all with stiff penalties enforced by your IRS thugs?
WE won, you lost. Deal with it union goblin.

It's still Obamacare. Removing the illegal theft of money from the US government to cover insurance company losses without proper appropriation of those funds via the House of Representatives is a correct act. Obama violated the separation of powers. He had no authority to order the theft of those funds for the benefit of his buddies in the insurance companies. Absent the illegal subsidies, the insurance companies will withdraw the policies provided at a loss with the certainty that the loss would be illegally covered.

Obama should be prosecuted for what he did. The insurance companies should be forced to return the money and claw it back from those who benefited from the illegal subsidies.

Lee really isn’t going to like it when he loses his exemptions.

I hope those subsidies were vital. I want Obamacare dead. If rates rise enough, even the spineless republicans will be willing to repeal the law they promised for seven years that they would repeal. Drive enough people out, and CBO scoring will show that the repeal doesn’t cost anything.

I want Obamacare dead. I want Obama’s legacy erased. I want freedom restored. When my grandchildren study history, I want them to ask me why Obama is the only White House occupant listed with no accomplishments, except as a bad example.

Federal judge has already ruled the subsidies are unconstitutional.
