Pence, Biden going to bat for candidates in Virginia gubernatorial race
Washington Times ^ | 10/13/17 | Seth McLaughlin

Posted on 10/14/2017 2:20:45 PM PDT by leaymane

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ralph Northam and his Republican rival Ed Gillespie are pulling out a couple of the big guns Saturday, as they look to energize their respective coalitions less than a month out from Election Day. Mr. Northam plans to spend the morning campaigning with former Vice President Joseph R. Biden in Northern Virginia, and Mr. Gillespie is set to appear at an evening rally with Vice President Mike Pence in Southwest Virginia. The race is tight, according to polls, which has shown Mr. Northam, the state’s lieutenant governor, with a fairly consistent lead, riding strong support from voters in the Washington, D.C., suburbs. But Mr. Gillespie is blowing Mr. Northam away in the rural parts of the state and hoping that his attempts to cast Mr. Northam as soft on crime and MS-13 gangs could weaken his support in key areas of Northern Virginia. “The favorable environment — that is, a fairly unpopular Republican president in the White House and a relatively popular outgoing Democratic governor — is helping to keep the Democrat slightly ahead, but given the tendency in Virginia to vote against the sitting presidential party in gubernatorial elections and Trump’s poor approval rating, Northam should maybe be ahead by a little more,” says the most recent analysis from the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics. Mr. Pence will join Mr. Gillespie and the rest of the GOP ticket at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Abington. Mr. Biden and Mr. Northam, meanwhile, are set to host a workforce development roundtable event in Reston.

I'm a Virginia resident and am not surprised national politics are playing into this race.

If the election is close, the Democrats will steal a victory.

Glad to see Gillepsie workers hitting up my block today. Would have been nice to see them promoting Stewart, but glad for any activity, especially in Arlington.

I suppose it matters less at a state level if Gillespie does not firmly support President Trump. He will at least be conservative *enough* to turn back a lot of the damage done by McAuliffe.

Note: the Virginia House of Delegates is Republican by an almost 2/3rds majority. 66(R) to 34(D). But Republicans have just a slim majority in the senate. 21(R) to 19(D).

So a Republican governor will strongly help Virginia.

I hope no one specifically told Slow Joe to “go to bat” for the satanic candidate ... Slow Joe does exactly as ordered!

Rep Ed Gillespie is probably a swamp critter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gillespie

Edward Walter Gillespie (born August 1, 1961) is an American Republican Party politician and lobbyist.
Gillespie, along with Democratic Party member Jack Quinn, founded Quinn Gillespie & Associates, a bipartisan lobbying firm.

Career politician and lobbyist. Swapped from Dem to Rep but still founded a company with a dem.

So the message is; don’t go for whoever Trump and Pence support. I think they sort of have to, being members of the rep party. Check Bannon’s preferred candidates instead.

A bat would be a better governor than McAwful.

“Would have been nice to see them promoting Stewart,”

Next year! He has declared for US Senate to take out Tim Kaine in the 2018 midterms. For now, we’re focused on a GOP sweep to drive the libs out of Richmond in 3 weeks.

The Joe Biden campaign event had zero impact. A handful of folks were in attendance. The lord of USA destruction, hate America, ex-POTUS, Barack Hussein Obama hits Richmond, Virginia next week. We shall see how potent and effective this worst POTUS ever will be in this campaign.!!!

Why would Pence bother. Virginia is a deep blue state now. No republican can win statewide

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sure would. Do you know where we could get one?
We have two Democrats running, one of them wearing an R jersey and pretending to be a Republican.
He’s pretending to be against illegal aliens, despite his previous desire to amnesty them all.
It is possible that Obama/Biden going to STUMP for the dimwit Democrat may hurt his poll numbers.
Prayers for team Trump and Pence!
Yes, it’s the typical military paradox, of having an ally patch a hole in your defenses, even though they are less than trustworthy, because you have no one else to do so. All they really have to do is to keep the enemy from busting through there. If they do that, it is enough.
Mike Pence against Obama/Biden. If one knows the story of how the Christians were able get control of the Roman Empire, it was the famous story of the Cross in the sky and the cross on the shields of the much smaller army of Constantine.
It is interesting how at one of the early Christian Councils, Council of Nicea I think, Then Emporor Constantine attended.
The Christian leaders wanted him to lead the council but he refused.
More recently, there was the Cross in the Sky in attempts to bomb a town/village with a Roman Catholic Monastery. This was San Giovanni Rotondo.
I believe that multiple attempts were made to bomb the monastery.
One of the bombing raids had 112 B17s. And one of the top generals for the USAAF (United States Army Air Force) was General Nathan F. Twining.
The thing was that not a single bomb landed on San Giovanni Rotondo,
The Supernatural part of this is the story of the Flying Monk
Stars and Stripes did an article on this.
Point is that Mike Pence may help that is unseen
The point of Cross in the Sky.
That happened at the Battle of Milvian Bridge.
That also happened during World War II when the United States tried to bomb the monastery of the Flying Monk
Good news, HokieMom! Would that Warner would go away, too... Had an encounter w/ him in the late 90s that proved him a total scumbag. Just couldn’t believe it when he emerged in politics.
I’m a little late to this thread, but I have new information. My VA sources tell me that Gillespie has seen the MAGA light, and will support Trump/America’s agenda. It’s good news. He deserves FR support.
Gillespie was not the first choice of VA constitutionalists, but my friends there have met with him - and he has seen the MAGA light. He’s the best available choice.
