Ring Around the Dwarf Planet Says ‘I’m Young’
You can’t declare something old just because your worldview requires it to be old.
New Scientist declared in bold print, “Distant dwarf planet near Pluto has a ring that no one expected.” Reporter Ken Croswell, however, never explains why it was unexpected to find a prominent ring around the dwarf planet Haumea, located about 2 billion miles beyond the orbit of Pluto. When surprised by something that shouldn’t last for billions of years around a body smaller than Pluto, one strategy astronomers employ is to look excited:

This planet is smaller than Pluto but Pluto is not considered a planet anymore? Smells like affirmative action at work.
It’s a bit premature to jump to conclusions. The ring could be of recent origin around an ancient planetary body.

Actually, it is more massive than Pluto.
When Pluto was discovered it was thought to be about the size of Earth. Now we know it is much smaller than our moon.
“We didn’t expect” seems to be the most common thing that “scientists” are saying quite regularly. One might be tempted to think that their theories are mostly moonshine.

Note the two moons. Repeated observations show variation in the shape of the dwarf-planet and the position of its moons.

I miss Pluto the planet.
So do I ... and I still think of "9 planets".
BUT ...
If Pluto is to be categorized as a planet then a large number of other known objects should also be categorized as planets, as they are observed to have similar properties. If those other objects are to be dismissed from the category "planet", then Pluto should also be dismissed.
Is Pluto a planet? Does it qualify? For an object to be a planet, it needs to meet these three requirements defined by the IAU:
•It needs to be in orbit around the Sun – Yes, so maybe Pluto is a planet.
•It needs to have enough gravity to pull itself into a spherical shape – Pluto…check
•It needs to have “cleared the neighborhood” of its orbit – Uh oh. Here’s the rule breaker. According to this, Pluto is not a planet.

You’d prefer we weren’t learning new things and refining or revising hypothesis based on new observations?
I didn’t go to your list know as Pluto is still officially classified as a planet.
