Political retirement speeches are not usually all that memorable. A celebration of your many accomplishments, a nod to the great institution you serve, a hat tip to all the sacrifices your family made over the years to let you live the life you've lived.
Which is what makes Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake's speech on Tuesday all the more remarkable. Flake's address was a clarion call to the governing wing of the Republican Party to wake up from the fever of Trumpism. It was a call to action and a warning. A plea and a push. It was, in short, the most important political speech of 2017 -- and one of the most powerful political speeches in the modern era of the Senate. And it's uniquely possible that it won't change a thing.

The narcissist thought he is so important he just had to take the floor to say he isn’t running because he’s an eGOP idiot who lied when he made his campaign promises and Trump called him out on it.

The important thing is he's leaving Rock Ridge.
To paraphrase Phil Robertson, "He gone."
But, we will continue to fund his lavish lifestyle for the rest of his life.

The "governing wing of the Republican Party" is obviously and steadfastly anti-Trump, you idiot.

Yes, CNN, it certainly was the most remarkable pre-emptive concession speech ever.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about. President Trump has, at most, 7 years to go. After that we’ll never get another chance to elect a non-Swamp dwelling scumsucker as the GOP will have their primary system locked down by then.

Of course CNN would love his speech. Flake is all about “dignity”. Nary a word re corruption and crimes by the Clinton/Obama cabal, but when dignity is involved, oh the horror.

With Flake gone expect the establishment to flood the zone and muddy the waters by running half a dozen candidates - all “Conservatives you can trust” to try to keep Kelli Ward out of the Senate.
