Release of JFK Assassination File Is Delayed as Deadline Looms
NBCNews ^ | October 26, 2016 | KEN DILANIAN and CORKY SIEMASZKO

The U.S. government was in danger Thursday of missing the deadline to release a trove of previously classified records from the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, adding an unexpected twist to a saga already rife with rumors and conspiracies.

The National Archives needs the official approval of President Donald Trump to begin releasing the 35,000 documents online and meet a deadline to divulge the papers set by Congress 25 years ago by The John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act.

But as of Thursday afternoon, the memo specifying which material the CIA, State Department and other agencies still want to keep under wraps had not made it to Trump’s desk, U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News.

“There’s a mad scramble going on in the executive branch to get this done,” one official told NBC News.

The CIA is asking only for some redactions, not for all the documents to be held, the official said. But the other agencies involved in the process have not yet finished their submissions.

So only a handful of documents were expected to be released on Thursday, not the entire batch, officials told NBC News.

[The CIA is asking only for some redactions]

Why? Just some guy with a $29 rifle, no?

What’s the concern?

This is dumb—all the conspirators are dead.

Intelligence sources and methods from the 1960s are very old news.

If they can’t make the deadline, release it all!

This is not about the deadline. This is the Deep State “Resistance Movement” against Trump, trying to show him up.

Fifty four years after the assassination and these agencies still play classification games with the public. No excuse for this and Trump should not be going along with it.

“The CIA is asking only for some redactions, not for all the documents to be held, the official said”

There is not a single source, method, or agents name from 1963 that could compromise national security. If they want something redacted, it is to cover up wrongdoing or direct involvement.

We were told yesterday by some supposed judge who said he had seen some of the material that it was going to be a big disappointment to the conspiracy buffs.

Further proof that the CIA should be disbanded. They have missed every attack on America, and every monster sized global event like the fall of the USSR.
They have been the direct cause of more wars and human misery than they have prevented.

And they have tarnished the American reputation of decency and morality across the world. That used to mean something. Now people expect that America is not to be trusted. The cult of intelligence has damaged us. And now it is moving into a policy making role instead of taking orders.

Break them up.

Yup...nothing but a planned thumb in the eye to Trump by the deep state scumbags.

That was a judge that decided what parts to keep secret longer. So yeah, im sure we wont see the “good stuff”.
Besides, nobody is expecting to see a memo from John Foster Dulles ordering “operation regicide” to go forward in Dallas.

But there will be dozens of connections and small things that will be proven to be direct lies from what we have been told.

That judge is just a modern day Warren commission.

So...even if documents are released, the critical information that would put to rest the half century old controversy, will be kept ‘under wraps’.

“...want to keep under wraps...”

After all these many years what information would anyone want to withhold or redact?? There should be a sunset date on every document.

"Why? Just some guy with a $29 rifle, no?"

The documents left have very little to do with who shot Kennedy.

"There is not a single source, method, or agents name from 1963 that could compromise national security."

Not all the documents date from 1963. Some originate as late as the 90s.

There is no information in them that will put the controversy to rest. There's nothing in these files like that.

“the memo specifying which material the CIA, State Department and other agencies still want to keep under wraps”

This is ridiculous. The assassination was 54 years ago, the House investigation was 32 years ago, and we’ve been waiting 25 years now since Congress scheduled the records to be released. Just release the damn things.

There’s no actionable intelligence or assets that could be compromised by these documents, so the only plausible reason for them to want to hold anything back is that there are still a few people left alive from the government who will look bad when we see what they were up to back then. Sorry, but that isn’t a matter of national security.

How do we know that if we aren’t allowed to read them?

For one thing, we know what the files are even if we can’t read them. For another, there are people that have read them and they’ve said so.

It has been 55 freaking years! Come on man!

Show some guts Donald!
