Further proof that the CIA should be disbanded. They have missed every attack on America, and every monster sized global event like the fall of the USSR.
They have been the direct cause of more wars and human misery than they have prevented.
And they have tarnished the American reputation of decency and morality across the world. That used to mean something. Now people expect that America is not to be trusted. The cult of intelligence has damaged us. And now it is moving into a policy making role instead of taking orders.
Break them up.
To be fair, it was the deputy national security advisor who figured out the USSR was ripe to fall, and that with a push, they could go all the way.
The CIA fought Reagan on it pretty much all the way.
