I knew he was a nasty bastard, but I am gobsmacked by this one. He was the worst POTUS we ever had. What does that say about JFK putting him on his ticket w/ that in his background?

Kennedy had to do that to get votes in the South. It was a deliberate move. Considered "smart" politics at the time. Then Kennedy immediately started sending Johnson to funerals in far away places to keep him out of Washington and as far away from the seat of power as possible.
JFK put LBJ on the ticket to win Texas and no other reason.
