about the assassination of John F. Kennedy are shedding new light on shooter Lee Harvey Oswald and the bureau chief's efforts to quell conspiracy theories about the fatal shooting of the nation's 35th president.
In the chaotic aftermath of the assassination, followed two days later by thewhile in police custody, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover vented his frustration in a formerly secret report found in the files. It opened: "There is nothing further on the Oswald case except that he is dead."
But, reflecting on Oswald less than an hour after he died, Hoover already sensed theories would form about a conspiracy broader than the lone assassin.
"The thing I am concerned about, and so is (deputy attorney general) Mr. Katzenbach, is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin," he said.
He also reported: "Last night we received a call from our Dallas office from a man talking in a calm voice and saying he was a member of a committee organized to kill Oswald."

Why did he say they need to convince people that Oswald was the REAL assassin.
I wonder if Stone is the one who will be indicted.l tomorrow.
Read my lips -— CONSPIRACY. Whooda thunk???
The Surgeon General’s report shows that 2 shooters are confirmed. He was shot from the front and left side just like the “conspiracy theorists” have always said.
I think probably because it was the truth and Hoover did not want the public to be misled.
That phone call was interesting tho.
Of course he didn't act alone. The Ruby Bullet Band was one of the best backup bands of the early 60's.
A few years ago I decided to watch as many YouTube Kennedy assassination related videos as I could work into my schedule. I’m not going to try to dig it up now, but there was one that stuck in my mind. Immediately after the event, some reporter was interviewing the onlookers as they dispersed. He put the microphone in front of a man who had his wife and children with him. The man very calmly and specifically described two shooters. He identified the location of the one on the ground.
There was no hesitation or ambiguity in this man’s account. I could tell by watching him and listening that he knew what he was talking about.
If there were a memo where Hoover stated that they needed to convince the public that Oswald was a patsy, that would be news. Oswald did act alone but since there are so many conspiracy theories, that effort to convince everybody of the truth, was obviously a failure.
Is the page from helms still missing where he was suppose to answer the question about whether oswald had anything to do with cia.
Document from released files
Stone and Manafort killed JFK... why do you think Stone tried so hard to pin it on LBJ?
Ruby was supposed to kill LBJ rather than Oswald that way Nixon could get back the election stolen from him by JFK and Stone could be chief of staff and Manafort could be ambassador to Russia... see how simple it really is when you have all the pieces!!!
Katzenbach was acting in coordination with Robert Kennedy on this, following President Kennedy's orders for a media blackout in the event he was assassinated.
The first third of Waldrons book argues that the Johnson administrations lone gunman verdict was guided by contingency plans the Kennedy administration had developed while preparing for a potential December 1963 coup against Castro. The coup plan envisioned replacing Castro with Cuban official Juan Almeida Bosque, who had been recruited as a CIA asset. The plan, coordinated by Robert Kennedy through five Cuban exile groups, was codenamed AM/WORLD by the CIA and was sometimes referred to by CIA exile assets as Plan Omega and Plan Judas (the latter presumably a reference to Almeida). For convenience Waldron nicknames the operation C-Day, a phrase he invents to also encompass the non-CIA portions of AM/WORLD, which he emphasizes was a military operation as well as a CIA operation. If the military had its own separate codename for AM/WORLD, Waldron does not mention it.
Waldron quotes documents recording that AM/WORLD planning included contingency plans for how to respond in the event that Castro retaliated by kidnapping or assassinating US government officials or citizens. According to a confidential Kennedy administration source cited by Waldron, these plans included provisions for a partial media blackout of key crime scene information in order to buy the US government time to investigate Castros possible involvement and stall calls for immediate nuclear retaliation. Waldrons source asserts that these considerations guided how the government responded to Kennedys assassination. Waldrons source described himself as having assisted Robert Kennedy in ensuring that his brothers autopsy did not compromise national security. The end of this review will suggest that Waldrons source here may be Robert McNamara, who is described in a House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) memo as serving as liaison between the Kennedy family and physician George Burkley during Kennedys autopsy.
There is no surgeon general report! Just a bogus reference to one in a small time racists speech to fellow bigots.
That is very interesting
It could explain the replacement of the windshield as per mfg. Plant management person
Check the Zapruder film https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zapruder_film
It shows the shot to his throat and his head going backwards which indicates a shot from the front.
People laughed off and ignored the Grass Knoll theory for years but I think the new files kind of prove that it may not be a theory.
The physics shown in the Zapruder Film prove the fatal shot came from the front/right of the President. (Talk of muscle spasms and the back brace etc can’t negate what is shown in the film.) The tissue sprayed onto the trunk and onto the motorcycle cop at the left/rear of the limo does the same thing. The piece of JFK’s skull (Harper fragment) found in the grass to the left of the limo’s position at the time of the head shot does the same thing. The majority of the doctors who saw the throat wound before the tracheotomy say it was an entry wound. These were ER doctors who saw gsw all the time. These physicians knew what they were talking about.
I don’t think Oswald fired a shot that day.....JFK or Tippitt. I think he was exactly what he said he was......a patsy.
Interesting. I’ve never read this.
