The medias real business is story laundering.
"The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns," Ben Rhodes gloated. "Thats a sea change. They literally know nothing.
Rhodes, the White Houses Obama whisperer, was explaining how he had pulled the wool over the medias eyes on the Iran Deal to a journalist. The media responded to the story by attacking the journalist who reported it, not Rhodes for viewing them as easily manipulated useful idiots.
The media knew that it knew nothing. And it didnt care. It just didnt want outsiders to know it.
What ties together the debate about Russian collusion, fake news and Fusion GPS is the implosion of the media. What were the professional reporters doing while Rhodes was manipulating the 27-year-olds? They were working at places like Fusion GPS and story laundering narratives to the kiddies.
The media markets its investigative journalism chops even as investigative journalism no longer fits into its business model. Companies like Fusion GPS and political manipulators like Ben Rhodes step into the vacuum by covertly providing them with the core product. Much of the media is really in the business of story laundering by rewriting talking points, smears and hit pieces from organizations like Fusion GPS.

As usual, Daniel Greenfield's article is worth reading whole.
I know an older gentlemen who retired from the “news” business a few years ago but still has a lot of contacts in it. He has remarked several times that all today’s “journalists” really do is take press releases from corporate and government PR departments and slightly reword them so they can be printed in the paper or posted online.
I think this is why Fusion GPS didn’t want their bank records made public. It would show checks coming in from MSM outlets.
24-7-365 news cycle. They have to have something to fit in between all the commercials. Fairy tales seem to work.
Folks are a lot better off if they just recognize the fact that mainstream news and media entertainment, from nightly broadcasts and tv series to athletic events and political events are for one purpose and one purpose only: to generate an audience to attract advertisers, essentially to sell a commercial product. There is no altruistic purpose like finding truth and disseminating it to the public. It is not a political watchdog, despite the pretensions of the media denizens. If it does not sell, it does not appear in the media. It is much easier to take the media with a grain of salt when you face that truth.
