Concealed Carry in Churches
Gun Watch ^ | 6 November, 2017 | Dean Weingarten

According to concealedcarry.com, concealed carry is banned in only two states, Nebraska and Louisiana. It requires permission from a church leader in seven states, Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Carolina. In the other 41 states, you have the right to conceal carry in church just as you do in other private property.

The church may ban the practice, just as you may in your own home. But there is no law to prevent you from exercising the Second Amendment in church.

There are very few places where you are not allowed to carry in church. In most of those, the church leadership is allowed to give you permission.

Which would have stopped the TX shooter in what way exactly? Putting up a sign will stop a shooter? Wow, well I guess that didn’t work, did it?

He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

Hire , or ask for volunteers , off duty PD , or former combat veterans , and post TWO at each church in America , armed with M-4 type carbines and side arms . One in front and one in back , or as a rover . Have one more concealed carry inside . End of problem . Same with schools .

Our troops who have honorably served , whom are highly trained , and greatly experienced , STILL have an important role to play .

Under Texas law, churches can ban concealed or open carry simply by putting up a "no guns allowed" sign. If you are caught carrying a gun in a church with a no guns sign you can be arrested and have your concealed carry permit revoked.

Of course, a no guns sign at a church has the same effect as any other "gun free zone." It gives criminals and terrorists the peace of mind of knowing that they will probably be the only ones who are armed.

If the folks in the church were carrying, they MIGHT have shot back. I know some people refuse to carry in church, or think churches are safe. Lots of would-be killers might think of them as gun-free, although they’d be in for a big surprise in some churches I know.

Well it’s a crying shame there weren’t some good people packing in Sutherland — often that can deter — or at least minimize the casualties

Yes, you can. If you think you cannot, please state the statute.

More people in my church carry than don’t most of the time. I’m shocked this could happen in a rural church in Texas. No description of the killer yet.

So far, all we are getting are very fragmented reports. I have not read a single eyewitness account from someone inside the church.

We simply do not know much about what happened, or who did what to whom.

It may take a few hours or weeks to sort out.

I’ve been expecting this to start. To many soft targets for isis. Several in my church carry, but I’m on stage every week with a guitar. My plan has been to get down and stay down. Maybe my eqipment bag needs to be augmented....

Really? When we had a Muslim-turned-Christian speak at our church a while ago, at least five men in our church were packing. The speaker has been living under a fatwa for years and is at risk wherever he goes.

EVERYONE SHOULD REFRAIN FROM PERSONAL TESTIMONY IN A PUBLIC FORUM.

The right to carry is a natural right ... just do it and shut up.

Thank you. I was thinking on that verse as I carried last night.

In my state, concealed-carry is legal without special permit required.

I carry. Always. I’m even thinking of how to waterproof my .40Smith when I take a shower.
