There are very few places where you are not allowed to carry in church. In most of those, the church leadership is allowed to give you permission.

Which would have stopped the TX shooter in what way exactly? Putting up a sign will stop a shooter? Wow, well I guess that didn’t work, did it?

He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

Under Texas law, churches can ban concealed or open carry simply by putting up a "no guns allowed" sign. If you are caught carrying a gun in a church with a no guns sign you can be arrested and have your concealed carry permit revoked.

Of course, a no guns sign at a church has the same effect as any other "gun free zone." It gives criminals and terrorists the peace of mind of knowing that they will probably be the only ones who are armed.

Well it’s a crying shame there weren’t some good people packing in Sutherland — often that can deter — or at least minimize the casualties

More people in my church carry than don’t most of the time. I’m shocked this could happen in a rural church in Texas. No description of the killer yet.

EVERYONE SHOULD REFRAIN FROM PERSONAL TESTIMONY IN A PUBLIC FORUM.

The right to carry is a natural right ... just do it and shut up.

I’m in Michigan.

If you come into my church with ill intent, elders are on post to identify you before you even enter the building.

They are a themselves a capable and brave force.

Should your heart still beat, half the congregation of my church having pushed their wives and children to safety will unload their clips until you are unrecognizable by God.

Important cultural note: the congregation in this church seems to be predominately older people, perhaps baby boomers, who as a group seem to be less gun liberty oriented.

There is one caveat to Nebraska church carry. You can carry concealed in a Nebraska church if you are a designated member of the church security team, approved by the senior pastor. There also must be some type of congregational notification that church personnel are armed, but the law is purposefully vague as to what form that communication must take.

I carried before permission was given. My family’s life and safety is my responsibility not my pastors. However after a church shooting a few years ago the pastor and deacons sought out several members and let them know ccw was acceptable, just be discreet.

I know of two deacons and couple of retired police officers who carry besides myself.

FYI- although CC in churches is restricted (may do so with church permission), a CC licensee who chooses to carry anyway is not committing a crime- if he is discovered (?) and asked to he leave, he must, if he refuses and a peace officer is called, he can be ticketed. RSMO 571.107

A non CC licensee (constitutional carry type) who so does is committing a felony....

Carry anywhere you can, avoid places you cannot.

I don’ understand the concern for carrying where signs are posted. If it’s a situation where you may need your weapon, wouldn’t you just carry, and ignore the sign? No one would know, unless you actually needed your weapon!

I’m on our church’s security team, we have multiple conceal carry members in attendance each service.
