Indeed it appears they did. This was a huge victory for the Left and gives them a huge shot in the arm going into 2018 - the demoralization they suffered from losing all of those special elections is now no more. They have real confidence they can win big in 2018. They gained seats in conservative districts with hard core leftists simply because the turnout of the Dem base was so high even where that base was much smaller than the GOP base. Apparently all of that “backlash” from those disgusting ads they ran didn’t actually exist.
Warning sign here: We need to get that tax reform passed and give the economy a huge boost going into 2018 or we could be in very real trouble even with a favorable Senate map and seats that should not be vulnerable will be vulnerable as well...many of those House of Delegates seats that were lost should have been automatic Republican holds. No seat is safe if what happened in Virginia is replicated in 2018 nationwide.

The Republican establishment can’t get anything done, and if they fail, people will vote for the Dems (who will get work done). We’ll hate their work, but they aren’t a circular firing squad. I almost feel like the Republican establishment is screwing Trump with this because they want him to fail so they can declare victory and go back to politics as usual.
