Gag order issued in Manafort-Gates case
MSN News ^ | November 8, 2017 | Kathryn Watson

A federal judge has issued a gag order in the federal government's case against former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates, preventing them and their legal teams from speaking to the press.   U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson threatened the order last week, and the lawyers for Manafort and Gates did not object. Jackson's order comes after she chastised Manafort's lawyer last week for holding a press conference after court proceedings, fearing such media attention could taint the jury pool. Manafort and Gates face 12 counts, including conspiracy against the United States and money laundering. Federal prosecutors have asked that Manafort and Gates be placed on house arrest and GPS monitoring, although Manafort's lawyers have argued those precautions aren't necessary.

First, they break into his home in a predawn raid, steal his files and personal possessions and assault him and his wife while they are asleep in bed.

Then they file phony charges against him.

Now they prevent him from speaking about his treatment.

Sounds like a totalitarian government.

Seems like this will benefit Manafort and Gates more than the Democrats.

Yes it's a good thing. It will keep the reporters away.

They'll have to make up fake news with a tid bit from the Manafort/Gates folks.

Also, they supposedly not only took documents from him in that raid that were subject to lawyer/client priviledge, but are now even forcing that lawyer to testify against him.

I’ll take that as doing further harm to the Demorats and GOP Elites if the truth be known.

This case would make anyone gag without a judge’s order!

What about a gag order on the Mueller team to stop it leaking?

The Obama judge doesn’t want Manafort to be able to defend himself from Mueller’s leaks, that are already illegal.

I wonder if Mr. Manafort thinks his own lawyers are selling him out?
Public defenders do that but they are getting paid relative peanuts.

Mueller is scared of something or someone.

A compliant judge. A grand jury who voted for Hillary.

Why is he scared?

I think that Mueller is afraid of the court of public opinion once the facts get out. I also think that Manaford when he spoke to the press a week ago, scared Mueller and his handlers.

Now we will see if the Manaford Gates defense team gets a mistrial declared when further leaks come out that Mueller approved of.

A mistrial would be a potential victory for Mueller compared to a not-guilty verdict. It would at least allow Mueller to save face.

<>Sounds like a totalitarian government.<>

In the old Soviet Union, they first identified the criminal, then they determined the crime.

Thank goodness that doesn’t happen in the US.
