ESPN will lay off more than 100 staffers after Thanksgiving: Report

Another round of layoffs are hitting ESPN, according to a Sports Illustrated report.

Sources told Sports Illustrated ESPN plans to layoff more than 100 staffers after the Thanksgiving holidays, with SportsCenter in particular expected to lose jobs. ESPN did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment.

The company has gone through several rounds of layoffs over the past few years. In April, it let 100 people go, including about 10 percent of ESPN's more front-facing employees including on-air talent and writers.

ESPN is going through changes as more people move away from cable and towards stand-alone streaming services. The company is preparing to launch an "add-on" digital service which will let people watch content on their mobile devices, CEO Bob Iger told CNBC in October. There will also be an additional product which will give viewers access to more than 10,000 live sporting events.

Yeah, keep telling yourselves that...

Since FOXNews is the only group that give conservatives about half the time WE never have to feel bad about any of these groups going under...

Cable in general is losing a ton of subscribers. Lots of folks are opting out of ESPN because they’ve been taken over by SJW.

But don’t look for SJWs to be kicked out with these layoffs. Once they’ve taken over the host, the parasite SJWs hang on until the host is dead.

Leftists HATE football. NFL allowed their home office to be taken over by SJWs and are comitting corporate suicide.

Vox Day’s book is good to read on this. SJWs take over the HR department. In control of hiring and firing, they then impliment leftist policies and purge anyone who complains.

I remember a time, long, long ago. During that time, fledgling ESPN aired sporting events, nothing but sporting events, no "enlightened" commentary, 24/7. If you couldn't sleep, you could turn on ESPN and watch Canadian Curling or Chinese Ping Pong or whatever.

During those Grand Old Days, MTV aired MUSIC videos 24/7. A lot of classic, non-sensational videos that were about unadorned music were featured.

In those grand old days there was 8PM family hour on TV. It was high quality TV, appropriate for the family to watch together. Oh, yeah, and the Disney network was about wholesome programming for children, that the whole family could enjoy.

How did things go so wrong? One can't help but wonder if it was by some grand design, to destroy the fiber of the best most decent society the world has ever known.

End of pondering.

ESPN has a chance to kick out no talents like Jemele Hill but I doubt they will be touched.

For decades they over-paid for programming, the advertisers over-paid for commercial time and sponsorship, the viewers became bored, then offended, then angry. What’s happening now has been inevitable.

I listen to some radio show on Fox sports every morning and that guy hammers MSESPN every day for bringing in left wing politics into sports. This morning he was blaming them in large part for the decline in the NFL by promoting giving these oppressed athletes a forum to express their opinions.
