I was alive in 1979, in fact. A 21 year old soldier atop a tank in Germany. While an 18 year old girl would have been in lustful thinking. Anything under that was no deal. At 26 finishing college dated a 21 year old. Nothing to relate to. Two different worlds. She liked Madoona, me far older bands of the 60s 70s. At 32 an 18 year old would be considered a no go for me....nothing in common..too immature, etc. that’s me. I know there are guys that like them young but not me. They are pretty to look at and that’s about it.

Looks to me like Moore was of the opinion that marrying a woman 10-12 years younger was the formula for a long lasting happy marriage for him and courted ( as opposed to dating) women of this age differential
