Is this MAGA? I thought better of Mattis. This sounds like Obama social engineering. Then again it might be a more true reflection of America's new demographics and we might actually need the manpower.

It's a good thing that the Army has skilled psychiatrists like Major Hassan...

Meanwhile, our son who scored just shy of twice the national average on his ASVAB, has to jump through hoops because of a kidney surgery that was performed on him at 11 months.

In all honesty, none of this stuff was on the radar back in the day. A weed bust isn’t the end of the world, and it seems like everyone has this or that.

Lowering quality standards to meet quantity requirements does not seem like a good idea. Better to have an undermanned army with high standards than a fully manned army which can't be depended on.

Sounds more like a justification for the draft.

Correct. Better to have a small high quality military than a large low quality one. Thanks can always be filled in case of a major war.

Captain Obvious makes the diagnosis:

psy·cho·sis
sīˈkōsəs/
noun
  1. a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.
  2.
  3. [The Architects of Western Decline:
  4. A Study on the Frankfurt School and Cultural Marxism]

"According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization". It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism.

Most of the activity of the department [KGB] was to compile huge amount / volume of information, on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion.  Publisher, editors, journalists, uh actors, educationalists, professors of political science.  Members of parliament, representatives of business circles.

Most of these people were divided roughly into two groups:  those who would tow the Soviet foreign policy, they would be promoted to positions of power through media and public manipulation;  [and] those who refuse the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated OR executed physically, come Revolution.  "
--KGB Defector Yuri Bezmenov
--Soviet Subversion of the Free Press (Ideological subversion, Destabilization, CRISIS - and the KGB)

Here's what the military should do:

- Raise the age of enlistment to 19.

- After 3 years of military service: Paid tuition (including books, fees, and room & board, or rent if you want an apartment) at any technical, vocational, apprenticeship, or junior college.

- After 6 years of service: $150,000 towards the purchase of a home, including the paid tuition above

- After 12 years of service: Paid tuition, a home, and a $100,000 cash bonus.

- After 24 years of service: All of the above, lifetime pension, lifetime medical care, and a $1,000,000 cash bonus.

Bound to happen. We're running out of young people who don't do one or more of those things, regretfully. And I don't know how many now would choose to serve in the military if they had chances at decent jobs with a future. And some branches and specialties are more selective than others.

So I definitely think it is your second statement in your post. And I think it's been true for some years now, just getting worse.
