Russian Revolution: What young Soviets wanted for today's Russians
BBC ^

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, time capsules that were buried 50 years ago across the country are being unearthed.

The 1917 upheaval, including the October Revolution, saw the toppling of the Russian monarchy and the Russian Empire eventually replaced by the Soviet Union.

Young people in 1967 wrote letters to their 2017 peers, celebrating the achievements of Soviet rule and anticipating exciting developments in space exploration and science.

But they could have hardly imagined that - 50 years later - flights to Mars would still be a distant reality, and that the Soviet Union would have collapsed before their messages saw the light of day.

There is a nationalist website popular with young Russians called “Sputnik I Pogrom” and one of the head writers posted the following. (Forgive the flawed translation, it’s long so I pasted through online translator.)

IN ENGLISH:

November 7, 1917, Russia finally tore torn European suit, got down on all fours and started barking. I agree with those who say that the beginning of the destruction of the state and society was launched in February of 1917, that without the February revolution was impossible in October. And, recognizing that the regime of Kerensky was 10 times worse than the Russian Empire, I can’t help but admit that the Bolsheviks overthrew him was 10 times worse than Kerensky and all the other conspirators suddenly find themselves at the helm of the great European powers.

But the main thing is. The important thing is that our people were wise and kind until the very end of Russia. Supporters of the Bolsheviks and their Asian authorities like to tell that “the people supported the Soviet power”, but forget to mention that under the “Soviet power” in 1917 meant not only a radical religious fanatics, Communists, and social revolutionaries, the socialist-revolutionaries. If simplified, the SRS also striving to build socialism, believed that to build socialism should be not revolutionary, but evolutionary. Their ideas were crazy, but they were not going to break the country on his knee. Moreover, unlike the Bolsheviks, to appeal to the relatively small proletariat and considered the peasantry as a reactionary class, the SRS was based precisely on the peasants, the most numerous class in Russia.

Therefore, even after the October uprising Bolshevik revolutionaries were able to win the elections to the Constituent Assembly. 375 mandates the right social revolutionaries, only 175 of the mandates of the Bolsheviks, and only 40 seats left SRS gave the elections to the “constituent Assembly”. Realizing that the all-Russian Constituent Assembly would be the social revolutionaries, the Communists disbanded it, destroying the last chance for democratic compromise, and Civil war broke out, unleashing bloody red terror against their political opponents.

So when another author will tell you that the Bolsheviks “overthrew the capitalist oppressors, promising land to the peasants” believe it not. Overthrowing an already weak Kerensky, then the Communists took over their allies-the socialists. No “capitalists,” “landlords”, etc. horror stories, there was not even close. Was, in modern parlance, Poroshenko, which began to cut the Communist battalion “Azov”. And with all dislike Poroshenko could not agree more, what better than a good, uncomplicated smile Sasha Muzychko (whose type seemingly emerged from 1917).

Today, the day of greatest Russian tragedy of the twentieth century, I would like to remind all our readers that in 1917 the Russian people in a national democratic election EN masse, with a huge margin, rejected the Bolsheviks. Unlike the Germans, led by democratic means to power of Hitler, the Russian in his the last for the next 74 years voting loudly and confidently opposed zahlestnula the land of darkness and madness. It is important that you should learn for opposing the Communist fanatics: “Russian do not vote for you”.

As for the popular argument that Yes, the Bolsheviks came to power by a butcher, but have built factories, houses and so on, then this is hypocrisy. In France, Germany, England, Italy, USA, Canada was not Communist — but there throughout the twentieth century, massively built factories, created a gigantic army, implemented an ambitious program of social housing. There is no reason to believe that the Russian Empire or the Russian Republic in defiance of the international trend would begin to destroy the factories, disband the army and demolish housing. Typically, in response, argue that the Communists built the industry at an accelerated pace, and without this we would not have won the Second world war, but this is hypocrisy, since the Second world war was not an iron law, but a consequence of a number of gross diplomatic mistakes (in the first place — permission to fight the Germans with France on one front, the situation that the Russian Empire has successfully prevented the First world war). Let’s bring up the wolf-eater in his yard, and then when he is stronger, we fight him and tell how we heroically defeated — but says nothing about what the creature could crush the puppy.

In other words, there are no reasonable arguments for Soviet power, but there are plenty of arguments against. The Bolsheviks destroyed the nascent Russian democratic tradition. The Bolsheviks massacred the Russian intelligentsia, officers and the entrepreneurial class. The Bolsheviks managed to erase from the face of the earth, even the traditional Russian village. The Bolsheviks disrupted the transit of Empire in pre-modern nation-state of modernity, replacing netbilling mad socialist experiment (which ended in failure — as elsewhere in the world, from Uganda to China). The Bolsheviks made the Russians 70 years to fight in foreign wars, which even Kyiv became a foreign city, the return of his insane dream. Even the Creator of the pride of the Soviet space program, the genius Queen of the Bolsheviks were sent to the GULAG, where he during interrogations broke his lower jaw. The person who launched the first man into space, did it after the humiliating torture, losing many years of fruitful scientific work on humiliation and bullying. And even the Second world war, the Bolsheviks had only won after a fantastic, unimaginable defeat in 1941 that destroyed the country, the people bled, forced to compete with the United States from the position of half-dead cripples almost completely destroyed the European part of the country.

The Bolsheviks stole Russian our Russian XX century, a century in which Russia was supposed to be... no, not the second — first America. Instead, he became Cambodia.

Similarly, the German XX century was stolen by the Nazis, turned the mighty industrial power of Europe in the two remnant, bombed to the States of the lunar landscape. Similarly, the revolutionaries stole the Chinese of the twentieth century, plunging the dynamic state into chaos and madness (Chinese civil began in 1911 and ended in 1949).

Three great continental powers intended to dominate Eurasia — and the same fate: the left-wing fanatics, the chaos, devastation and, after a brief rise, fall into the abyss, the second-the third echelon. One could argue that China is rising, Germany is rising, but where we would be today without the Chinese civil war and cultural revolution? Where would the Germans now without the devastation of Nazism, partition and occupation? Where would Russian that escaped the yoke of the Bolsheviks, the worst (of the German aristocracy went through all the tests, the last Emperor of China was officially accepted into the Komsomol, and only the Russian elite was carved cleaned)?

We would rule Constantinople and Manchuria, forming a single geopolitical unit with the French Empire and a giant Yugoslavia, building the European Union around a powerful and independent Slavic States, gathering Europe around St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev, Warsaw, Belgrade, Prague, Athens and Constantinople, not London and Berlin. Our geniuses and prophets were not to languish in camps, suffering beatings and humiliation, but to work in the best laboratories. Our peasants had to toil in the farms, but to fill an endless stream of Siberia, Central Asia and North China, seizing more land with the same insatiable thirst for that and centuries before. Our workers had to erect a huge factory, a put on sucked out of our colonies, the means and not taken from a Russian village last penny. We had to become strong, free and wealthy nation, which is headed by the ancient aristocracy, a new service class and national intelligentsia, and instead become a dying stump of the Communist madness with the unraveling economy, seglistitem hordes of Asians from former colonies traded blame for gas with a worm-eaten piece of rotting meat, once the former centre of civilization, Kievan Rus.

We lost everything, and in 1991 there were only formalized the completion of the process of cutting the huge inheritance, who wanted a Russian tribe 1000 years of its glorious history. And even if we complete the construction of the Russian nation, and get ourselves a Russian national state, recovering the lost, restoring the border in the Carpathians, returning Russian flags in the cities, which for centuries our forefathers died, all this will be only a pale shadow of what did not happen the Russian XX century, stolen by the Russian XX century. In the twenty-first century, our philosophers had to think about postheadericon future, Titanic supranational entity made up of Eastern and Central Europe around Petersburg and instead they quarrel with Kiev captured by the mob and seriously talk about will not be lost if Russian people from fair elections.

Worse, the neo-Soviet circus in the DNI and LC clearly shows that the wound of 1917 have still not healed that is injected then the poison is still strong that the tragedy is not recognized and not experienced and therefore could happen again. We passed the low point, when the “worst of it”.

And I think November 7 is not about a long dead Bolsheviks but their living descendants and successors.

More likely they would be surprised and happy to see that the 1917 revolution goals are alive and successful in the U.S.

Nah, they know somewhat of which they speak.

Since NASA's not quite ready to declare that a humanoid population lives or lived on Mars (see Spirit Rover images below--they clearly have a lot on their plate (lower right quadrant)), they're kind of in a holding pattern with their Greenland-based experiments.

Thank you, TigerClaws for that link.

Vladimir Putin can’t have it both ways. Many of his followers now glorify Stalin, as the Russian government bullies former Soviet holdings like Ukraine and Poland for wanting to tear down statues of Lenin, Dzerzhinsky, and other criminal terrorists — all the while claiming the mantle of Orthodox Christianity and lamenting the state of the degraded, secular West.

Well whatever is degraded and secular in the West can in large part trace their origins back to the VERY Soviet legacy, he so wishes to glorify and manipulate for his ends.

Terrible.
