Trump Shatters Norms by Pressing for Clinton Investigation (MSM snowflakes get the vapors)
NY Times ^ | 2 hours ago | Peter Baker

The request alone was enough to trigger a political backlash, as critics of Mr. Trump quickly decried what they called “banana republic” politics of retribution, akin to autocratic backwater nations where election losers are jailed by winners.

Democrats still vividly recall Mr. Trump on the campaign trail vowing to prosecute Mrs. Clinton if he won. “It was alarming enough to chant ‘lock her up’ at a campaign rally,” said Brian Fallon, who was Mrs. Clinton’s campaign spokesman. “It is another thing entirely to try to weaponize the Justice Department in order to actually carry it out.”

But conservatives said Mrs. Clinton should not be immune from scrutiny as a special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, investigates Russia’s interference in last year’s election and any ties it may have to Mr. Trump’s campaign. They argued, for example, that Mrs. Clinton was the one doing Russia’s bidding in the form of a uranium deal approved when she was secretary of state.

Peter Schweizer, whose best-selling book, “Clinton Cash,” raised the uranium issue in 2015, said a special counsel would be the best way to address this matter because it would actually remove it from politics. “It offers greater independence from any political pressures and provides the necessary tools to hopefully get to the bottom of what happened and why it happened,” said Mr. Schweizer, whose nonprofit organization was co-founded by Stephen K. Bannon, Mr. Trump’s former chief strategist.

A letter by Stephen E. Boyd, an assistant attorney general, to Representative Robert W. Goodlatte, Republican of Virginia and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, disclosed that career prosecutors were evaluating issues that the congressman raised in his own letters to the department in July and September.

I watched the early stages of the Judicial Committee hearing on Jeff Sessions this morning.

I have long held that the crime and corruption is so deep and wide in D.C. that there is no way in hell they will dare to let an investigation into Hillary, DNC, Comey, Lynch-on-the-tarmac and more ever begin.

I WAS RIGHT!

Jim Jordan ran down the entire list of things we know to be true about the Clinton/Comey deception and Sessions said there is no factual reason to convene a special counsel.

Subsequently he also told Trey Gowdy the same thing.

HILLARY, COMEY AND MUELLER HAVE BEEN RULED TO BE ABOVE THE LAW-

END OF DISCUSSION!

I recall Hussein threatening to prosecute intelligence officials involved in enhanced interrogations matters. It went on for months. Hussein finally backed down.

Silvio Berlusconi to escape corruption charges thanks to new law

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/7421172/Silvio-Berlusconi-to-escape-corruption-charges-thanks-to-new-law.html

Backwater nations like Italy who prosecute former leaders.

Of course maybe we could pass this law like the Italians and Hillary can say she’s too busy to be tried for corruption.

Regarding Crooked Hillary: “ Sessions said: “We will use the proper standards, and that’s the only thing I can tell you.”

I am holding out hope that he knows more than he allowed to tell.

Yeah. After most of those intelligence officials resigned and were replaced by Obamites.

NYT Headline: "Trump Shatters Norms..."

Correct Headline: "Trump Upholds Rule of Law; All Equal in Eyes of Law; Nation of Laws, Not Men"

The unethical NYT and Dems are doing their typical sleight of hand. A banana republic goes after their political opponents because they are their political opponents. But that is not what is happening here. If Clinton is gone after it is because of corruption, corruption in office and other illegalities. Clinton and the Dems know that the “banana republic” accusation would be used to forestal any attempt to root out and bring corrupt officials to justice and thus they had a green light to be corrupt.

No need for a special counsel. The crime(s) would be straight-up embezzlement, influence peddling, etc.

Whether the FBI looked the other way would be a different situation of course.

My honest belief is that the criminal atmosphere is so prevalent in the beltway that the power players on both sides are working on a way to stop all this before it goes too far.

I think if a real investigation were to be conducted and people concerned for their families and estates start trading truth for immunity the subsequent landslide could put half of D.C. in jail.

What we are learning and what many of us have always felt is that there are two levels of justice in America and the one where most of us live is far below that of those who stay the course and don't rock the establishment boat.

It is just bizarre to watch democrats on the committee bring up the issue of a witness saying "I don't recall" when they celebrated HRC avoiding justice by using that escape dozens of times.

The MSM “banana republic” claim is predicated on their framing the issue as Trump investigating and prosecuting Hillary because she was the opposing candidate, which is a willful and deliberate misrepresentation of the actual situation. They know perfectly well that there are substantial legitimate questions about Hillary’s involvement with the Uranium One deal, her deleted emails, and her connections to the Clinton Charity and its receipt of large sums of money from foreign sources that she was interacting with in her capacity as Secretary of State.
