This week marked a century since one of the darkest chapters in human history began, and a truly evil worldview was put into practice.
One hundred years ago, Bolshevik revolutionaries stormed the Winter Palace in Petrograd, the seat of the Provisional Government of Russia. They also seized post offices, train stations, and telegraphs in the dead of night. When the people of Russia’s capital city awoke, they were in what Rhodes Scholar David Satter described as “a different universe.”
That universe was a communist one. Vladimir Lenin’s so-called “October Revolution,” which took place in November on the Gregorian calendar, sought to establish the first-ever Marxist state. After a lengthy civil war, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics emerged, marking one of the greatest setbacks Western Civilization has suffered since the fall of Rome. Communism would eventually rule one-third of the planet, condemning one-and-a-half billion people to lives under brutal, totalitarian governments, and leaving behind a trail of over 100 million corpses.
So many people died because, as Satter explains in The Wall Street Journal, the communist worldview sees the state as supreme, replacing God, Himself. It’s infallible, it transcends morality, and it demands absolute loyalty from its citizens.
Karl Marx taught that only such a state, acting for its people, could break the chains of economic oppression and private property, creating a “new man.” This type of person, depicted in Soviet propaganda posters with bulging muscles and steely eyes, would work willingly for the common good, seek only to advance the interests of his comrades, and usher in a worker’s paradise.
The communist ideal was nothing short of a godless eschatology—a Heaven on earth.
What we got instead was hell on earth. Through political purges, forced population transfers, manmade famines, gulags, and a so-called “Great Leap Forward,” dictators like Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Pol Pot presided over some of the worst mass murders in human history, all directly motivated by the desire to bring about that communist paradise.
It wasn’t until Christmas 1991 that the darkness which had fallen on Russia in 1917 began to lift. The Soviet sickle and hammer descended over the Kremlin for the last time, quietly announcing the end of what President Reagan had dubbed the “evil empire.”
But for millions of people the world over, this godless worldview remained and remains a political reality. China’s forced abortions, Cuba’s political repression, and North Korea’s persecution of Christians are just some of the atrocities that have continued in communist countries since the fall of the Soviet Union.
And here in the United States, communist ideology enjoys a kind of immortality in our universities, where many professors openly identify as Marxists, and students sport those ever-popular Che Guevara t-shirts.
One recent survey by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation found that half of millennials would rather live in a socialist or communist country than in a capitalist democracy. More than 20 percent have a favorable view of Marx, and thirteen percent think of Joseph Stalin as a “hero.”
The only good news is that 71 percent of those surveyed couldn’t identify the correct definition of communism. They don’t understand what they’re praising.
As we look back on the aftermath of that October revolution, we should commit ourselves to teaching our kids, our friends, and whoever else will listen where communism belongs: squarely in the dustbin of history.
Perhaps the best way to commemorate communism’s 100th birthday is to pray that we can fully and finally bury this evil worldview in our lifetimes.

If you define “homocide” as the death of a person caused by the actions of another human being, then how many non-war homocides were perpetrated during the 20th Century? You can pick about any number you want; it’s well over 100 million. Let’s go with 150 million. But the next question is: of those 150 million homocides, how many of them were perpetrated by a government official carrying out the official policy of their government?
The answer is: Virtually all of them.
Communism and National Socialism were competing brands of the same product.
They haven’t given up. They still want to overthrow the government of this country and establish a marxist paradise. If they have to use muzzies to kill off all the Christians, that’s all right with them.
The divorce of any kind of supernatural authority from either National Socialism (usually shortened to simply “Nazi”) or International Socialism (commonly called “Communism”) is the major downfall of both.
Islam, on the other hand, a very crude and primitive form of socialism (from BEFORE Karl Marx), first put into place their version of a supernatural being, that was OK with applying draconian threats on the lives and beings of it subjects, to get them to comply with directives that the common good was to be shared by all its adherents. Then some language about killing off all the unbelievers, or enslavement of those who were too chicken to resist, and vague promises of a place in Paradise where females outnumbered valiant defenders by a ratio of 72 to one, for the warriors who would “spread the faith” and die in the effort.
As a result, Islam is ranked among the more efficient ideologies in dispatch of the “useless” members of humanity, that do not accept the anti-capitalist, total conformity of the power of a powerful central authority.
Only the sweep of the “Golden Horde” of Mongolians across most of Asia to the Middle East and even into Europe, was more bloodthirsty and rapacious, even, for a while, taming the Islamic barbarians, until much of the “Golden Horde” itself adopted Islam, but only as a working arrangement, not as a guiding principle. Tax collection was much simpler after that.
A few thoughts come to mind. Psalm 2, “Why do the heathen rage and the peoples imagine a vain thing? And Rom. 1 which states that the world no longer wishes to acknowledge God at all so He gives them over to a reprobate mind - the aftermath of which we are seeing everyday in our own nation and around the world.
They will have their utopian paradise. The Bible describes in by saying there has never been a time like it nor ever shall be again. Best get prayed up for the deception and difficulties yet to come. The times that try the souls of men. Praise God there is a Redeemer and nothing can prevent His coming and His Kingdom.
It’s quite literally unbelievable these so-called professors of higher learning who are clearly as smart as mud want us to live in that Anti-American anti-free Marxist utopia of degradation and depravity.
They truly belong in mental asylums with their own little padded room; not being anywhere near anyone under the age of 30 who still have impressionable minds they can corrupt.
This is a huge problem in America and getting bigger unless action is taken.
The solution is simple but unfortunately unacceptable to most Americans : Seperation of School and State
Islam is a war plan. Restrict Muslim immigration and confront Sharia law.
The fact that after 1,400 years, Europe is finally falling to islam, . . . isn’t even news in the US. And on top of it all, social justice federal judges tell the President he cannot keep out muzzies.
I weep over the remains of the world’s greatest republic.
A late ray of hope - I read Merkel is having trouble with organizing the new government and the Germans people are making more noise. We'll see what happens. I think it's too late.
Also read the French postal workers are refusing to deliver mail in the Parisian no-go areas. Not good. Voting Macron in a huge mistake for the French people.
Keep waiting for the people to rebel, but they've been so brainwashed, I expect nothing. It's all so sad. We can't let it happen here.

A New Dark Age descends across Europe. We are next.
Yes, it’s a new Dark Ages. I have a gut feeling the diseases are going to increase too, plague like stuff. What a mess. Trump has to play hardball on this. To hell with the SJW Judges. We’re talking about our national survival here. Build the wall, strict immigration policy and let the cards fall where they may. The left will scream but We the People will vote for Trump again.
Just finished teaching class on THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR and am prepping a class on Russian revolution and Russian civil war. they did not “storm” the winter palace. This is a myth. Most of the guards defending the palace just left and the Bolsheviks just walked in and arrested everyone.
Where is Charles Martel when you need him? Where are the Vikings?
People need to understand that these political systems do not work, if our nation wants to remain free -But how is this going to happen if this history is censored?
There is even a more recent example of socialist/communist failure - Venezuela- but we rarely, if ever, hear anything about it.
So how are we supposed to avoid falling into the trap of "Worker's Paradise " if no one talks about it and our supposed genius college professors praise it? And one of our two major political parties (Democrats) openly embrace socialism/communism?
A disturbing question to say the least.
But perhaps we can start waking people up to the dangers of socialist communist systems, by first, when explaining their pitfalls, replacing terms such as "the state" with the term "politicians".
For example- the sentence : "Communism depends on an all powerful state" does not really grab one's attention.
Especially millennials would likely not be alarmed by such a sentiment. But "Communism depends on all powerful politicians" is a more disturbing statement.
If you go back and read the above article switching the terms- "the state" or state even"government" (when discussing current politics) with "politicians" the threat of them having too much power is much more obvious.
Finally- As this article says- These failed systems seek to make politicians into replacements for God-so above all else we need to pray and fast for the restoration of our country into one that pleases our Lord. The Bible says clearly that this can happen if we ask Him to restore us. And we need to pray for president Trump for protection and guidance as he leads our nation.
Yup. Two scorpions in a bottle.
