A Tennessee Titans player plans to wear special cleats on Sunday to honor Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback whose decision to kneel during the national anthem has sparked heated debate over social justice protests.

Wide receiver Rishard Matthews shared a photo of the "Know Your Rights" cleats, which also include a drawing of Kaepernick and the name "Colin" on them.

Matthews wrote: "I dont have a foundation so i have chosen to support my brother @kaepernick7 foundation @yourrightscamp for #MyCauseMyCleats He has paid the ultimate sacrifice in order to bring true everyday issues to light."

Is this part of the $89M NFL league deal?

Guess I didn’t read the fine print.

Apparently there’s now a “My shoes, my cause” Day where the felons can where whatever they want on their shoes - league approved.

Did someone die?

That’s “ultimate sacrifice”!

Getting cut from your team because you suck =/= sacrifice.

Colin Kaepernick wore ‘cops are pigs’ socks to practice.

He said specifically his protest was about America being racist and evil.

Yet 1,000 ‘journalists’ and ESPN commentators want to tell us the NFL protest has nothing to do with the United States or disrespect for our flag or veterans.

20-25% loss in TV viewership since this began 2 years ago.

The real loss though is political clout. The $7 billion in tax giveaways that paid for the stadiums around the country was due to NFL goodwill. They’ve blown that out of the water. Wait until the next votes come around.

This is a multi-billion dollar screw up that’s got the NFL in a death spiral. Something to celebrate though apparently for the players. They’re making their money - for now.

According to the NFL rule book, displays like this are specifically forbidden unless approved in advance by the NFL.

I’m guessing the approval has already been given.

This is a multi-billion dollar screw up that’s got the NFL in a death spiral.

This is a death spiral. The (former) fans who love America will never come back. If that's 20% of viewers the NFL used to have, that represents a lot of casual conversation at work and neighborhood get togethers where NFL talk will no longer be welcome. The woman who cuts my hair shifted her day off because a whole lot more customers now come in on Sundays during NFL games instead of Saturdays during college games. The last two parties I went to that in previous years had football in the background did not have the NFL on this year.

As other patriots realize this shocking disrespect to our flag, our anthem, our military, our country, and our ancestors is not going away, more people will join that 20%, and NFL talk in social settings will get increasingly awkward. The "me too" followers who watch because that is something to talk about, and you have to be up on The Game to be social, will join the patriots in finding something else to do with their time. If bringing up your team shuts down the conversation, why bother keeping up with your team? Why bother watching at all?

The NFL has Colin cancer. The disease has spread, and it is terminal.

You do know that Kaepernick opted out of the final year of his contract with the 49ers to test the free agency market, right? He didn't even get cut because of his protest.

“Where is Roger?”

That’s kind of like, “If only Stalin knew!”

Stalin knew.

Roger knows.

Roger likes what is going on.

Not in any way! Stalin was never depicted as a clown.

"Where is Roger?" on that shirt was sarcasm.
