GOP Says It Has Enough Votes to Pass Senate Tax Bill
Wall Street Journal ^ | Dec. 1, 2017 | Siobhan Hughes, Richard Rubin and Kristina Peterson

WASHINGTON—Senate Republicans on Friday were confident that they had locked in enough votes to pass a sweeping tax bill later in the day. Wavering GOP senators offered their support and a holdout, worried it would add to the deficit, all but conceded defeat.

Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas), the No. 2 Senate Republican, said the party had 50 votes to pass the legislation. Republicans control 52 seats compared with 48 for Democrats. With no Democrats expected to support the bill and Vice President Mike Pence able to break a tie if needed, Senate Republicans have the majority needed to clear the measure through the Senate and open negotiations with the House to iron out differences.

Eggs actly. No doubt when it goes back to the house, it’ll end up on the cutting room floor. I think we’ve seen this before.

In a high technology world of instant communication and research, why do these news outlets need three and sometimes as many as six reporters to write a simple news article?

Is it for safety reasons? Like the Clintons would have to kill three people simultaneously to cover their tracks? Crash three airplanes at once? Three suicides?

It never used to be that way.

You won’t hear much about this victory for Trump. You’ll only hear breathlessly hopeful reporting by the Democrat media about Trump being impeached because Flynn talked to the Russians.

Hillary lied her ass off to everyone, but since the Democrat FBI knew she would, they didn’t require her to take the customary oath before her testimony to them. How conveeeenient.

An automatic tax increase will not pass the supreme court's previous rulings. Read the court's ruling yourself on the Gramm, Ruddman, Hollings, automatic spending reduction act of 1985, and then overturned by the supreme court in 1986 as unconstitutional.

Let the idiots have their tax trigger. Challenge it in 2019 before the court for free campaign news for the winning side of Americans. Let the democrats fight to keep it.

With this Mueller and Flynn thing. A tax bill will not mean anything.

Poof. There goes our awesome economy. Thanks Democrats. Anti-American Zealots.

"With this Mueller and Flynn thing. A tax bill will not mean anything."

And I guarantee you the timing of the Flynn disclosure is meant to do just that. But in the real world and not the swamp world, we know what's going on.

Swamp dwellers are what swamp dwellers do.

Yup. If McConnell couldn’t stomach Cruz calling him a liar on the Senate floor, wait till Moore defeats all the king’s horses and money and can have at him in the Senate. I think it will be the end of McConnell.

Give them their triggers. They have been found flawed constitutionally by the USSC.

A violation of 18 USC 1001 does not require an oath to be violated.

Just lying to a federal investigator is a violation of 18 USC 1001, whether or not you are under oath.

Maine Sen. Susan Collins says the bill is going to include her amendment allowing up to $10,000 in state and local property tax deductions.
That mirrors the House’s bill, so that’s one less potential bone of contention to getting a single bill to send to Trump.
