Even in Alabama. The schools are being overrun with foreign children. The schools no longer divide children by ability. Every elementary level teacher receives a mishmash of students from all sorts of backgrounds. The low level students are taken out of class throughout the day. The foreign students are taken out throughout the day. It makes for many disruptions and a lack of continuity for those students. Some are far behind. It is a travesty because American children are being penalized for being American. Black children from rough homes are being hurt because attention is being shifted to others. It is bad.

There is a huge push for pre K in Alabama. They are adding more and more classrooms each year. The children who are being served in these classrooms are often ESL students. A few in each classroom are the children of Arabs here for college. American children are not filling those coveted seats. It is bad.

I love children. I want children to have wonderful, productive lives. But is it the responsibility of the United States to educate foreign children or the children of foreigners who are here temporarily? Or children here illegally? Why do Democrats want American children to come last?

The downside of strict egalitarianism - erosion of gifted and talented and accelerated classes.
Done both so that no one is in a “higher” class and cost savings.

A classroom runs at the speed of the slowest class member you are willing to accommodate. If you go all the way to the bottom, the rest of the classroom is deprived of education at the level that any one of them could attain. I prefer running a self-paced arrangement so the fast ones can achieve to their limits and provide peer mentoring to the less intellectually inclined.
