How Trump turned tide of illegal immigration in first year: Border crossing hits 45-year low
Washington Times ^ | Dec 5, 2017 | S.A. Miller

Illegal border crossing tumbled to a 45-year low and interior arrests of illegal immigrants soared in 2017, according to data released Tuesday that showed President Trump’s enforcement crackdown netted tangible results during his first year on the job.

The numbers, released by the Department of Homeland Security, reflected a stunning turnaround from the nearly nonexistent interior enforcement of immigration laws under President Obama.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported 310,531 apprehensions nationwide in fiscal 2017, which ended Sept. 30, a decline of 25 percent from a year earlier and the lowest level since 1971.

Nearly all of the Border Patrol arrests — 303,916 — were along the southwestern border, which the agency said underscored the need for a security wall that Mr. Trump wants to build.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, who are responsible for capturing and deporting illegal immigrants, made 110,568 arrests — a 40 percent increase from the previous year

How Trump turned tide of illegal immigration in first year: Border crossing hits 45-year low

The same way Trump destroyed ISIS in 8 months after Obama said it was too complex.

The same way Trump got the economy roaring back after 8 years of Obama's 1.5% GDP growth.

Ignore all happy talk until illegals become as rare as hen’s teeth.

Build the wall. Deport the illegals.

Border crossing hits 45-year low

It's a change for the better, but not yet a lasting change - the next president could have border crossings hitting a 45 year high. Make E-Verify mandatory for every job in every state and build the border wall now.

This is clearly voter suppression. Trump is keeping “undocumented citizens” from getting to the polls in 2018 to help Dems take back congress. /sarc

About 58 percent of Border Patrol arrests were people from countries other than
Mexico — up from 54 percent from a year earlier — largely from Central America.
Starting around 2011, large numbers from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras
began entering the country in South Texas, which replaced Arizona as the busiest
corridor for illegal crossings.

***************

Now they need to address and develop plans to get after the other major group
of illegals entering the USA. These come in mainly from the Far East, Asia, etc
and enter on legal visas but don’t leave after the visas expire.

That’s the whole point. If they know there’s a good chance they’ll be deported, they won’t even try to cross in the first place.

Of course Trump and we are winning. But don’t ever expect the Left and the Dems (excuse the redundance) to acknowledge it as progress because it is totally counter to their goals.

These come in mainly from the Far East, Asia, etc and enter on legal visas but don’t leave after the visas expire.

How hard is it, in these days of computerized everything, to set up a system where the visa's expiration date and user's ID is logged. At expiration, if the visa doesn't show the user has left, issue a Federal arrest warrant. At some point it will catch up to them.

Advertise that fact.
