I think Franken senses that if he stays in it's possible that the media will come up with stories about his "redemption" after a few years, like what happened with Ted Kennedy.

I don't know if it will work for Al Franken, as it did for Ted Kennedy, but the media and the party have found ways to forgive worse behavior that what Franken did, and even to celebrate some very unsavory characters.

This is all about Trump.
The Dems think Franken is expendable, he should take a bullet for the team so they can once again call out Pres Trump and Judge Moore on their apparent sexual misconduct. Based on what? Trump being caught on camera talking locker room trash about grabbing you-know-whats? Which BTW, Trump immediately admitted and owned up to it. Accusations of Moore's inappropriate behavior from witnesses who are "credibility challenged"? And who signs a HS yearbook that way? Was that Allred's best shot? Still waiting for her to submit that signature for forensic analysis. I say, let the Dems throw the a**hole under the bus, though I wouldn't be surprised if he refuses to resign. I'm amazed there's enough room in the Senate to contain his ego. Then let them try to take the moral high ground. It'll only make them look even more ridiculous.

Hubert H was a moderate by today’s standards for sure and would cross the aisle on principle. My father (may he RIP) was always so proud that he shook his hand at a county fair once. Even he, a lifelong democrat, would be appalled at what it has become. No longer the workingman’s party for certain!!
