A Saudi Arabian prince is the mysterious buyer who paid a record-breaking $450.3 million for Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of Jesus Christ.

Bader bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan al-Saud was recently discovered to be the buyer of da Vinci’s painting “Salvator Mundi,” The New York Times reports.

Prince Badar’s purchase of the image of Christ comes at a time when elite Saudi’s are highly concerned about an ongoing “purge” of influential national figures at the bequest of the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. Badar is reportedly a close friend and confidant of the crown prince, who is already well-known for making extravagant purchases well into the hundreds of millions.

$450 million can buy better propaganda than this.

Possibly an indication of growing interest in the LORD Jesus among Muslims?

I will pray for the prince. Why? Because perhaps, in some mysterious way, God is working His will and the prince will contemplate said painting of Our Lord and he will come to understand the Jesus is his Lord as well.

It would be the ultimate scandal, and act of courage, but there is no mountain that cannot be moved once a glimmer of Christ's love penetrates the heart and withers away the fig tree of a false teaching like islam.

The painting is indeed powerful and will surely have an affect on all who see it.

Muslims believe Jesus (Koranic Issa) is limited to being a Prophet only.

Trusting soul ... trusting a mussulman is not always the best of ideas - no matter how much one might like the idea. He could easily have bought it to deliberately destroy it - money is nothing to these people, while hatred of Christians is everything.

The Prince is obviously a shrewd businessman that realized the painting is actually priceless and with time can double his money

Yes, the idea that Jesus is only a prophet is their official line, BUT the Muslim world is waking up to truth. Evidence is everywhere. Conversions of Muslims to Christianity are so many that it is sometimes hard to process all those who want to be baptized, especially the refugee camps in Europe. Former Muslims say Islam is in collapse. It would not surprise me in the least if this interest extended right into the Saudi royal family.

Saudis could have collected all sorts of Jesus artifacts/ antiquities over the centuries.. maybe they’re thinking of building us a Mecca-type museum.

FWIW, I’ve looked at small, large. They all look like Tebow to me.

Anyways, I’m just stuned (sic) that American museums and/or philanthropists couldn’t get together and come up with the dough to keep it here. Gee, wonder if it was the subject matter that turned them off.. ? Naw, couldn’t be that...
