ROGER STONE: Time For Real Net Neutrality
The Daily Caller ^ | 12/7/17 | Roger Stone

Posted on 12/10/2017 1:34:59 AM PST by a little elbow grease

(snip) - The singular reason why this-so called “Net Neutrality” came to the forefront is because then President Barack Obama ordered it. And who was prodding Obama to do so? Google. Microsoft. Facebook. Twitter. Amazon.

The Tech Left, funded largely by George Soros, had decided to champion under the banner of a benign-sounding “Net Neutrality” campaign and seize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grab the moral high ground in their determination to allow the giant edge providers to censor the Internet to suit their ideological preferences — ridding the Internet of conservative and libertarian content.

Google was especially vested, as the tech giant helped write the 2015 net neutrality rules and Google employees had more access to the White House during Barack Obama’s term than did Lois Lerner.

(snip) - If Donald J. Trump had not won the election in 2016, there is little question that the vibrant alternative media that exists today would be but a dim shadow of its current self. Even today, calls for outright censorship of Breitbart, Drudge Report, and Infowars are screeched out of the same mouths that call for “fairness” of content.

Indeed.

U.S. Government --- HANDS OFF THE INTERNET !!!

If there is a problem with any particular Internet commercial interest then it should be easily handled by the FTC ... and just as an aside, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, et al .. are ALL commercial interests. They should have no control over content on the Internet ... especially Facebook, who seem to lately think that they are the 'arbiters' of "News" on the Internet. They need to be reeled in from their megalomania

I hope that all FReepers understand that, despite its high-minded sounding name of “Net Neutrality”, it’s all about government control and regulation of the internet—-and, more importantly, control/regulation of the internet’s CONTENT. Censorship and limitation of “allowed” speech is the holy grail of the Left and Donald Trump is the wall preventing them from reaching that goal.

A good rule of thumb in my book is, if 0bama is for it, I’m against it.

_________

LOL. I hear you.

Her name is Ebony Williams. She's generally pretty smart but she is waaay to head-strong for that position.

Yesterday, my wife and I were watching and she interrupted Dan Bongino trying to tell him he was wrong on a matter. Well he WASN'T wrong. He put her down like a hot potato. She sat there and stewed. The two co-hosts seem sometimes to be annoyed at her "I'm the greatest attitude".

She is a general pain.

So glad I stopped watching FAUX News years ago. The husband still watches, however, and I must confess that he has me watching Tucker frequently.

Liberals lie. The name "Net Neutrality" is itself a lie.
Think of it as Affirmative Action for the Internet.
They seek to "level the paying field" of the free marketplace of the net by playing favorites.
Of course it will evolve into censorship.

What we need desperately is common sense journalism reform that requires so-called journalists to go through training and obtain a license. Too many lives are being destroyed by irresponsible misuse of unverifiable sources and unchecked reporting of rumors.
