VANITY: Let's retire the freepathon--It's old enough!

FREE REPUBLIC is THE most open and user-friendly Conservative discussion board on the net. It is entirely funded by donations, and provides a service no other chat forum can even come close to.

There are members who have been here since 1998, and who faithfully contribute monthly.

If you are new to FR, or if you have lurked for some time without contributing your opinions or your support, please consider signing up for a monthly donation, and do two things at once: Help us eliminate quarterly freepathons and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that the Conservative voice of Americans everywhere will not yet be silenced.

Twitter and Facebook are fine, for what they do, but if you really wish to express a literate opinion, post a stupid image or add a link to strengthen or illustrate that opinion, Free Republic makes it easier than any other forum.

It has bothered me for some time that the freepathons last so long. Friends, FREEDOM IS NOT FREE! Help us keep this forum alive and expressing the thoughts and opinions of patriots everywhere. Thanks for reading this unsolicited testimonial.

I’m retired on a low income, but one expenditure I never regret is my $10 monthly donation to FR! It’s not much, but if we’d all chip in, the freep-a-thon would go away!

If there are four per year @85K I am somewhat surprised there haven’t been any benefactors who have stepped forward to keep the platform well-funded, unless that goes against the charter and Jim simply doesn’t want a single contributor having a controlling interest in the site. That said, does a monthly recurring donation eliminate the Freepathon nags? I can’t give 350K per quarter, but I’d gladly pay $5 a month to opt out of the fundraising banners (and contribute to a worthy cause).
