GOP's Shelby played key role in Alabama Democrat's victory

Credit six-term Republican Sen. Richard Shelby for Democrat Doug Jones’ shocking win in Alabama, senators from both parties said Wednesday.

Shelby, Alabama’s senior senator and the state’s most influential official, publicly opposed GOP nominee Roy Moore and declared before the election that ”the state of Alabama deserves better” than a former judge accused of sexual contact with teenage girls decades ago.

A former Democrat, Shelby, 83, announced weeks before the election that he had already cast an absentee ballot for another, unspecified Republican, even as President Donald Trump and other prominent state Republicans stood up for Moore.

“I give the Alabama voters a lot of credit for the courage in rejecting Roy Moore’s candidacy and I think Sen. Shelby deserves a lot of credit for speaking out and encouraging people to write-in a Republican candidate” other than Moore, said Sen. Susan Collins, a Maine Republican who also opposed Moore.

“I think it’s very telling that there were more write-in ballots cast than the margin of victory,” Collins said Wednesday. …

Arrogant asshats. They really think this is a one way street? That they can bully the GOP base into voting for only K Street approved candidates without getting blow back eventually?

I predict a MASSIVE increase in write in candidates going forward. And it will end up biting the GOPe right in the keister sooner or later. Guaranteed.

I can’t even vote Republican anymore. We need a new party. Hope Trump starts one up.

Don’t forget that Shelby was once a Democrat or as they were known then as Dixiecrats.

Curious if it ever occurred to people the fact that perverts don’t just quit perverting. They usually get careless, and are caught due their brazen behavior. These actions Moore was accused of were forty years old, and no new such allegations have, or will arise.

WHY!? Because perverts don’t quit perverting, therefore Roy Moore isn’t a pervert.

Yes, my sense of humor is apparent in the way I wrote the above, but I hoped it would reach the dumb asses that stayed home, because they haven’t a lick of sense.

“I think it’s very telling that there were more write-in ballots cast than the margin of victory,” Sen Collins

pretty much what I thought looking at the numbers last night, “its very telling” is not exactly the phrase I was thinking.

Shelby was just re-elected in 2016. I’d be surprised if he has any intention of running again in 2022.

Thought the Dixiecrats were supposed to be “blue dogs” and not the commie-type “yellow dog” Dem?

Trump should wrap up his 6th year in office announcing a new party and campaign heavily for them in 2024. Well, if he’s very popular in his last year.

Oh it is telling, alright.

Of vote fraud.

That is why Trump specifically mentioned the write-in vote, in my opinion.

There is more to the story of what happened last night in AL, in my opinion.

Richard Shelby is a modern day Benedict Arnold, a UniParty spy wearing the uniform of a Republican. The great talent of Donald Trump is unmasking our enemies, and now we know the truth about Richard Craig Shelby. Moloch will be pleased with the blood of the unborn whom Shelby has abandoned. Richard Shelby is now 83, and it won’t be long before $10,000,000 and the applause of men will no longer comfort him.

Shelby, such a disappointment. He was just following orders from his master, McConnell.

Take it from me...a 26 year resident of Alabama.

Shelby is a turd.

He changed to Republican because he knew there were enough stupid people in the state to believe him.

It worked, he's gotten re-elected every time.

He is the epitome of RINO.

He votes just enough "R" to keep the wolves at bay.

I have never voted for him...I have wrote myself in every time...I will never vote for him.

I have every intention of working fervently against him in all upcoming elections.

In fact, I will slit my wrists and bleed all over the damned ballot before I will vote for a democrat or a damned RINO.

I'm fed up with this crap.
