Why Trump Should Consider a Post-Twitter Presidency

Almost every supposedly informed prediction about President Donald Trump's compulsive Twitter addiction has so far proved wrong.

He did not tweet his way out of the Republican nomination. Spontaneous social media messaging did not lose Trump the general election race with Hillary Clinton. Nor has Trump tweeted his presidency into oblivion.

Give up Twitter and let the Dem/MSM establishment control the narrative? Never.

I didn’t lokenthe Twitter thing initially but, it has proven to be a took enabling him to bypass the media.

I’m really don’t care if he dukes it out with those lying punks.

They are desperate for eyeballs and will do anything for ratings.

Keep tweeting...

If only, but I think he’s come to rely on it too much to drop the tweets cold turkey.
If more news outlets were more fair, or even just more professional in how they cover Mr. Trump, I think he would feel the need to tweet less.
However, that extended moment of reporting truth may never occur during either of his presidencies.

VDH must own no Twitter stock.

Others do.

And they’d tell VDH to STFU.

Because the @RealDonaldTrump account is the only thing that is keeping Twitter alive.

Trump will need Twitter for the rest of his life because unstable, unfair aholes will be hounding him as long as he lives, and Twitter gives him the most poweful, cost-effective way to promote and deliver his counter punches.

I think TWTR and other big media bypasses are the future, especially for conservatives.

When Hoover energetically campaigned for re-election in 1932, it broke with longstanding tradition that an incumbent President did not campaign.

Traditionalists and fusspots may not have liked it, but it was the future.

Likewise, direct communication via social media is the future. But it can’t just be anodyne announcements and platitudes written by a flunky (eg. Obama).

Conservative Presidents must fight back, and take the fight directly to their enemies. Otherwise they will be a defenceless target to get pounded into a motionless heap by their enemies eg. Nixon, Ford, Bush 1, Bush 2...

With FoxNews on the market and Disney being close to buying it, America needs President Trump on Twitter.

I have to respectfully disagree. VDH is no “deep state pansy.” Read any of his books. He’s as good a popular historian as any writing today and his political commentaries are usually astute.

That said, I follow Trump’s Twitter account daily, and would be sorely disappointed to miss any of his counterpunches.

One thing I notice here on FR is the readiness of some members to trash pundits like Rush, Hannity, Ann Coulter, who have a long record of supporting conservatism. But in these fraught times, they are now evidently not pure enough to advance the cause, or so I would conclude from some of the posts here.

There are a handful of public intellectuals — George Will and Jonah Goldberg, for example — who I no longer take seriously, mirroring what appears to be the consensus of FR members. Will was always a bit of a poseur, but Jonah was a real talent who, sadly, has been going downhill ever since he wrote the magnificent “Liberal Fascism.”

I don’t expect to agree with anyone 100 percent of the time. Nor do I expect anyone to agree with me 100 percent of the time.

I do insist upon respect for facts and reason, fully aware that facts and reason will sometimes lead people to different conclusions.

Our enemies on the Left have no respect for facts unless they can be twisted to whatever hate-driven agenda they are pushing at any given time.

That’s the difference between Left and Right.

Consider.

Trump almost always uses his tweets to counterpunch, following the same pattern during his presidential campaign. He was more focusing on Obama/Hillary, until he got attacked by fellow GOPers. Then he fought back against each individual.

If he stopped tweeting, could (note I didn’t use “would”) media, pundits and his foes (redundant) treat him fairly? H3LL NO!

That said.

Trump sorely needs to learn WHEN TO STOP, once he made his point across.

I’m with you on this.

Why run everything through a the filter of the media, a filter known to be hostile and a filter which will twist, shade, and “interpret” it for the dumb ass masses?

I don’t care if his tweets are rude or crude. They are him, and we don’t have to worry about what “filter” or stylebook guidelines some upper level POS at CNN/NBC/CBS/ABC/NYT/FOX or any other entity has mandated should be applied to his words.

Besides, he is engaged in combat with the media. I love it. Sure, they will be gunning for him, but as we have seen, it makes no difference. They are gunning for him anyway.

The more of his tweets I see, the more I agree with you.

It is almost as if he sits down for his morning constitutional, cracks his knuckles, logs into Twitter and says “What outrage will I send them off the cliff with today so I can get my work done?”

All with that trademark grin on his face. I love the thought.

I would disagree with your characterization of Hanson. He is a valuable ally.

I disagree with him on this, though.
