California lawmakers propose health coverage for immigrants [illegal aliens]

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California, flush with cash from an expanding economy, would eventually spend $1 billion a year to provide health care to immigrants living in the state illegally under a proposal announced Wednesday by Democratic lawmakers.

The proposal would eliminate legal residency requirements in California’s Medicaid program, known as Medi-Cal, as the state has already done for young people up to age 19.

It’s part of $4.3 billion in new spending proposed by Assemblyman Phil Ting, a San Francisco Democrat who leads the budget committee.

While federal funds cover at least half – and as much 95 percent – of the cost for citizens and legal U.S. residents on Medi-Cal, the state would have to pick up the cost on its own for people living here illegally.

No wonder they’re pushing a new “mileage tax” on top of the just implemented new per gallon gasoline tax hike.

They need the citizens to fund one more Leftist pie in the sky boondoggle.

It seems to be a competition as to who is more devoid of simple common sense: California or Europe. Both seem hell-bent on self-destruction. Would you want to hand over California’s rich resources to unwashed illegal invader criminals? I don’t want to subsidize such abject stupidity with my tax dollars.

They seem to go back and forth every 6 months from being broke to being “flush with cash”...

I live in Virginia so I don't even legally reside in California, I wonder if I would be eligible?

I can’t even imagine being a taxpayer residing in California.

I live in Idaho (a resident), but my company tracks any hours I work in San Diego and foists CA state income tax on those hours. You don't even have to be a resident of the state to get nailed.

Love the state. There’s no other place like it.

Hate the leadership. There’s plenty of rotten leaders like them in the U.N. and E.U.

I have to say, while we’re discussing the GOPe on other subjects today, folks just saw in Alabama something we’ve seen in California for decades.

The Moore situation is exactly how California came to be like it is.

We get no help whatsoever from the GOPe out here.

NONE!

California democrats won’t be happy until they run every last middle class American out of the state.

Glad I got out twelve years ago. The place is practically intolerable now.

“California, flush with cash from an expanding economy”

And this is what they were telling us about the Soviet Union back in about 1985, lol.

Oh, don't get me wrong, DoughtyOne. I love the actual state. Best state EVER.

The hippies that inhabit and control the state, on the other hand, is what I actually hate. If somebody would put a bounty on hippies that would fix everything.

We could charge real Americans a nice licensing fee to come hunt them. Set up charter tours, buses, and safari camps.

Fun for young and old. The proceeds could go to pay off the hippie debt they've wracked up over the years.

Ten years of that policy and my beloved state would be returned to glory.
