Memphis to Jefferson Davis: ‘Na na na na, hey, hey, goodbye’
Washington Post ^ | 12/21/2017 | Fred Barbash

The city of Memphis got rid of two Confederate statues Wednesday night, after a Tennessee two-step around a state law designed to prevent just that. It was a surprise maneuver that left the Sons of Confederate Veterans sputtering in anger and proclaiming to all who would listen: “Memphis stabbed you all in the back.”

This is the Democraps trying to hide their history. I say let them stand and let’s add a statue of Robert Byrd filibustering the Civil rights act as well.

At least the Taliban works in daylight when they erase history.

Actually the Democrats of 1860 were considered conservatives. The Republicans back then were the wild eyed liberals.

More from the article about how the sneaky bastards were able to skirt Tennessee's Heritage Protection Act of 2017 which states...

“No statue, monument, memorial, nameplate, or plaque” erected “on public property” in honor of certain military conflicts and their heroes may be removed without the permission of two-thirds of the board of the commission.

In October, the commission denied Memphis a waiver which would have allowed the city to remove the Confederate statues. The city was challenging the decision in court.

Focusing on the law’s key phrase, protecting statues on “public property,” Shelby County Commissioner Van Turner and others set up a private nonprofit corporation called Memphis Greenspace, Inc.

On Wednesday, without fanfare, the City Council approved a measure authorizing the mayor to sell the two parks with the statues to the private group, for $1,000 each, which he promptly did.

So the park went from being public to private.

I'd like to know where the mayor gets the right to see two city parks to a private group.

Memphis has been lost for years. It might as well be part of Africa.

Forrest only CW general to enter service as a private.

Great tactical commander.

Fearless, armed his men each w two navy colt revolvers . Charged in on horseback after opposition fired single shot rifles and the 12 shot slaughter of the enemy and its moral began.

He purchased 500 colt revolvers for a dollar each. What was Lincoln ‘s BATF thinking?

They played a dirty trick. Illegal for city to remove monuments, but legal for them to sell the property it is on. This is how they got around the law, and also why they did all this suddenly and in the dead of night.

A good illustration of the meaninglessness of the terms ‘conservative’ and ‘liberal’

If we want to give substance to the dichotomy,
let’s call it by accurate and meaningful terms.... Individualism vs Totalitarianism.

In Lincoln’s day, BATF would have been a convenience store.
