I think they should ask for what they want. If the Dems shut it down, doesn’t that mean that PT decides what is essential and not? Or are those predefined?

AFAIC I’d love for PT to decide on all spending!

Gee, the hardest hit would get a delayed-pay (but paid nonetheless!) vacation thru the holidays.

Dems think the Right will cower in fear at the prospect of a “shutdown”. Beware who they’re dealing with: bringing everything to a crashing halt over a single legitimately-debatable issue unrelated to the point of the bill? Trump WILL make them own it, hard.

This week, Dems are spending a lot of time not taking “yes” for an answer - a key sign of cognitive dissonance - by fighting lowered taxes on middle-class and increased taxes on the rich, and getting an otherwise perfectly Left-acceptable spending continuation because of an unrelated issue. As Haley just said elsewhere: names are being taken.

With Republicans controlling Washington, they would not have anyone else to blame for a shutdown debacle.

How is it when they weren’t in control, it was the Republican’s fault for being obstructionists? Heads Dems win, tails, Repubs lose!

Since the Republicans control congress they would be responsible for a shutdown.

When the democrats controlled congress the Republicans we’re responsible for the shutdown.
