McConnell: Entitlement reform not on 2018 Senate agenda
The Hill ^ | 12/21/2017 | Alexander Bolton

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says entitlement reform is not on the agenda in 2018, despite what Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and senior Trump administration officials say.

McConnell, speaking at an event sponsored by Axios on Thursday, said the lack of Democratic support for entitlement reform makes it highly unlikely that it will move through the Senate in an election year.

“I think the Democrats are not going to be interested in entitlement reform so I would not expect to see that on the agenda,” McConnell said.

He said that bipartisan immigration and banking-reform legislation are much more likely to move in 2018. “What the Democrats are willing to do is important because in the Senate, with rare exceptions like the tax bill, we’ve got to have Democratic involvement,” McConnell said.

The biggest drag on this Admiration the GOP's lackadaisical worth ethic.

President Trump has one working speed; his maximum.

McConnell, Ryan et al move at the speed of a NY Transit authority construction worker.

so the national legislative agenda is still controlled by the Dincraps, per McConnell

I know the tax bill just passed but what an embarrassing statement for McConnell to make!

Maybe, after the first of the year, McTurtle might be replaced as Majority Leader. Still hoping......

I think in this case it is warranted. Why in the world would you hand the Democrats and their propaganda machine, AKA, the corrupt MSM, a club in which to beat the ever loving snot out of you? All they will do is endlessly parade heart-wrenching stories of Paul Ryan pushing grandma over the snow bank in her wheel chair. They will have endless stories of seniors, veterans, women and children all eating dog food so they can afford their medication. Ah, no thanks.

Do what you can and if they hang on the majority strike hard and fast before the full weight of 2020 descends. That's just smart street fighting, IMO.

So instead of entitlement reform, funding the wall, dealing with Sanctuary Cities, rebuilding our infrastructure the Turtle and his merry band of RINOS will push Scamnasty in 18 to make his friends across the isle happy

Yeah Mitch that will bring out the Conservatives in the fall. /s

It’s overwhelming to note how often the Democrats reach across the aisle to work with Republicans.

Ryan called Medicare and Medicaid the “big drivers of debt."
And who gave us these FAILED gubmint programs? LBJ and the Democraps, who else.
And I still say that LBJ did more lasting damage to this country than any other president in history - including Nobama.

Maybe Mitch should start looking at the best way to revise the 2018 agenda, so that it provides benefits for the American taxpayers!!!

I suspect this in part, at least, in hopes of dulling the Dems upcoming “the Republicans want to starve granny” attack for 2018.
Though it won’t stop the Dems from going by their usual playbook.

You beat me to that point, but I suspect it won’t stop the Dems from trying it anyway. Never has.

Maybe, after the first of the year, McTurtle might be replaced as Majority Leader.

If McTurtle keeps this roadblock crap going on things like reducing spending and getting the wall built, then the new Majority Leader Schumer (ugh, I feel vomit In my throat just typing that) will solve the issue of getting rid of McConnell as Senate Majority Leader in Jan 2019.

“...I think the Democrats are not going to be interested in entitlement reform...”

All that Trump needs to do is CLEAN OUT the FRAUD and FAKE scum that is/are sucking the life out of proper entitlements. I put it all on the Congress for letting the system load up with FRAUDULENT receivers.

Why? How'd that Republican involvement go with obamacare? You have to pass it to see what's in it.

Entitlement reform is Amnesty Ryan’s pet. Probably best it waits until after he is gone.
