I remember back to the 60s when many of the nations in the Middle-East were anti-American and violently anti-Israel.

What we have managed to build today is a region where we have working relationships with most of those same nations.

No, they don’t see eye to eye with us on all issues. This is a good example of one of them.

While I do support Trump’s plan to hold nation’s to account, I think we need to be equally wise in implementation.

The goal needs to be to at least sustain relations or build them further, not destroy them.

Your #17 raises a number of good points.

But like a responsible parent, "holding nations to account" ought to have a bit of sting.

So, I would propose a 50% reduction in aid for the upcoming period. This, so long as any possible counteraction by one or all of recipients would not seriously compromise our national security.

(I have not stayed at a Holiday Inn for quite some time.)
