Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used a holiday season press conference Friday to deliver a lump of coal to Steve Bannon, mocking the former White House adviser’s “political genius” for costing Republicans an Alabama Senate seat.
McConnell, R-Ky., made the remark 10 days after the Bannon-backed Roy Moore lost a special election to Doug Jones, giving Democrats their first victory in an Alabama Senate race in a quarter century. Moore faced multiple allegations of improper conduct with teenagers decades ago and touted extremist views that repelled many women and minorities.
“The political genius on display, throwing away a seat in the reddest state in America, is hard to ignore,” McConnell told reporters. […]
McConnell declined to predict how many more GOP primaries there will be next year in which far-right challengers try ousting incumbents. Though Trump also backed Moore, McConnell said he believes the White House “will be in the same place I am, want to nominate people who can actually win.” …

He’s trying to protect the Cheap Labor Express and the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA).
He wants to make sure we can only elect Bush League Amnesty Senators or they help the Democrat win as they have already demonstrated they will do.
We may find out of major voter fraud in that special election.
Mitch is too much of a coward to directly attack POTUS again. So he will focus on Bannon.
Trump did not endorse Moore until he was the Republican Candidate.

Screw McConnell, but ultimately he is right about this. Trump was too when he campaigned for Strange.

Yeah, Mitch, you are a genius. You came to Alabama and TRASHED a sitting congressman in Mo Brooks, one of the most conservative guys in Congress. Your buddy John Boehner tried to take him out and he kicked PArker Griffith all over the place.
So you tripled down and spent millions upon millions trashing conservatives and backing a slime-ball who got appointed as a senator because he refused to investigate a governor who had to resign in disgrace.

Yeah — real classy: have the entire (R) establishment demand he withdraw over 40 year old he-said-she-said accusations, then cut off Senate Campaign funds, send Richard Shelby (R-AL) out to endorse the (D), i.e. kneecap him in both legs, then taunt him for losing the race.
I’ll go with POTUS on this....Moore was the wrong guy.
Maybe Bannon’s heart is in the right place but ...well it was a shot that didn’t work out.
I don’t think Mitch McConnell has any right to mock ANYONE when it comes to political skills.
Given the margin of the loss, it seems that the blame for loss of a Democrat seat rests squarely on McConnell, who did all he could to destroy Moore on false charges, and spent millions tearing him down in a primary. Good job, McTurdle!
Q’s posts about this indicate that the Alabama election was a Yugh sting operation. Roy Moore could still win.
